HOTELS

We really enjoyed our stay at both hotels, and would rate them both at 5 in each category.

In terms of food, whilst we were there 3 and 4 nights respectively, the a la carte menu might have given restricted choices if a stay was any longer. I note that both offered half board, and a little more info on that might help.

We mention to you, and we did to the hotel (Alcafour Vell), that only having a shower over a bath (not a walk in shower) was a little awkward, and even a bit dangerous. Even a non slip mat in the bath, and perhaps a grab rail or two would help. Especially for the elderly ….. like us.

Thank you again for your help.

I hope you are well and apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

We had a wonderful time at Alcaufar Vell in Menorca! It's such a beautiful island and we can't wait to return!

To respond to your questions:

How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:

Service: 5
Food: 5
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 4
Sleep quality: 5

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes definitely!

Alcaufar Vell is a little gem in a great location, (just a short drive from the airport and about a mile from the beach at Alcaufar - excellent for swimming). The hotel was spotlessly clean and the staff were friendly and always very helpful. The food was excellent and all served to us at our table in the courtyard. The breakfasts were quite a feast! We would love to return sometime!

Hi Henrik, Just to say  a huge thank you for organising our stay at Alcaufar it is our last day sadly tomorrow. We have thoroughly enjoyed ourselves the place is really lovely and very relaxing  but above all the staff without exception are excellent. We travel a lot and have never come across such genuine nice people who will do anything to help if required. Many thanks for the dinner that was a nice surprise and really appreciated. We are looking forward now to Plata del Mar in September. Thanks again. Regards

Hi Henrik We had a great time, thank you! Both hotels were very different . I would rate Alcaufar Vell as excellent. It was rustic and welcoming. I, d rate it 5 on everything except value for money, which is a 4.  Torralbenc was excellent in a lot of ways. It was contemporary and finished to the highest standard. It was great value for money and the location is beautiful. The service was bit too pushy, if you know what I mean. The food was okay. It was the same breakfast each day and the restaurant food was average and very expensive. There is a Michelin starred restaurant in Torret which was in my top ten of restaurants of all time and very good value with the right kind of atmosphere. Torralbenc was a little bit stuffy, but we thought it is the best hotel on the island. They were both fab in different ways! That probably doesn't help you that much as I would recommend them both. Thanks so much for your help and we'll definitely book with you again. Best wishes

Thanks we really enjoyed our stay. I would say 5 for everything except value for money about 3. Rather  expensive  for what it was, however we might stay again. Only real comment was our room was rather a long way from the main hotel facilities. We might well be interested in other hotels in Majorca  or Tuscany. Kind regards

Overview

Alcaufar Vell Hotel Rural is a place to enjoy peace and tranquility in a unique setting of the island of Menorca. Jaume and Mª Angels have converted this old farm, which has belonged to their family from the 14th century, into a small hotel and restaurant that offers a personal and intimate atmosphere.

The Arab origins and the various extensions made by the owners over the Centuries have developed the farm into a “señorial” neoclassical mansion, allowing you to enjoy a warm and friendly atmosphere where independence and guest comfort are key priorities.

The hotel has 21 rooms that are large and spacious with a light designed to be able to enjoy the natural light. All rooms have air conditioning, heating, minibar, piped music, safe, TV, telephone, hairdryer and bathrobes. The Superior and Junior Suite Double rooms have a nice private terrace with access to the garden.

Start the day with a delicious breakfast based on typical products of the island, many of them grown and processed in the hotel gardens (fruit, sausages, honey and tea).
Before heading out to explore the islands many beautiful places you can request a picnic that you can bring with you for lunch.
