HOTELS

Yes we had a great time and the fact that Ses Salines was only a walk away made the evenings great too.

As far as the hotel was concerned we give it 5 for all of the categories.Yes we will definitely recommend it to a friend.

I was intending to write to you to thank you and to say how much we enjoyed our stays at Sa Tanqueta and Sa Carrotja. They were both magical locations for our first ever visit to Mallorca.

We rate the service at both locations as 5. The staff at each location were so welcoming and helpful. Our main helpers at Sa Tanqueta were Kimi and a lovely lady, whose name I do not remember but she gave us our bill at the end of the stay and didn't wear a uniform. They were excellent, as were all the staff that we came into contact with.

At Sa Carrotja, Betty and Elena were both brilliant. So was the owner, Guillem? who arranged  a rental car for us.

We rated the breakfast at both locations as 5. Generous, fresh and varied.

Cleanliness at both locations was 5.

Value for money: we can't rate this as we have nothing to compare them with.

Sleep quality: we would say 4 but that was more about us rather than the standard of beds or accommodation.

We rather misjudged the location of  Sa Carrotja in relation to access to the coast. It was more isolated than we expected so we hired a car for 2 days which enabled us to explore. I would say that a car was a necessity at this location.

We definitely plan to return to Sa Tanqueta. It ticked all the boxes for us. Magical location, fantastic hotel in every way , staff, food, Ccleanliness, access to village, shops and restaurants, good bus service to Soller and beyond.

I hope that helps.

The Robson family recommended you to us. We will definitely recommend you to others.

Once again, many thanks for your services. We will definitely be back in the future.

Kind regards

My mother and I stayed in the Finca Sa Carrotja for a couple of days.  The staff were very helpful and the accommodation was as described. We had our own balcony terrace area with reclining sun loungers and a table with a couple of chairs.  We very much enjoyed the established gardens and quiet pool area.  The breakfasts were very good and offered a large range of options as well as freshly squeezed orange juice and lots of places to eat it.  The Finca was easy to find and about a 35 minute drive from the airport.  We were glad to have chosen to hire a car for the journeys as it gave us more flexibility - to find lunch/beaches/supermarkets etc - and Henrik helped with the hire.

Thanks for your help with this trip.  It was a great trip - and thankfully we were not caught up with the issues with flooding at the airport!

KD 06/24

Close enough to Ses Salines to get to the restaurants and bars by foot or bike (the hotel has bikes you can borrow), and far enough away that the place is quiet and peaceful.  The grounds are beautiful and well-mannered; we loved to wander around or sit outside with a drink. I would recommend getting a room with a terrace. Ours had a separate sitting area which made it feel even more homely. Thanks, Henrik, for listening to what we were looking for and recommending the right place. We’ll definitely use Rural Hotels Mallorca to help us find out next getaway on the island.

Service: 5 (except that we asked for double, and got twin beds pushed together. Not the same and peculiar for an 'adults only' hotel ... I didn't bother to ask again)

Many thanks for all of your help in booking our recent last minute trip to Mallorca. We are now back at home but did think seriously about extending our stay for a few days longer. We are already thinking about the next trip!

Sa Carrotja was amazing and so so nice to explore a part of the island that we've not visited for a long time. Our flight out to Mallorca was delayed and there were horrific queues picking up our hire car so by the time we got there it was dark and quite a challenge to find.

We think that it's very important to tell other guests to key in *Finca Sa Carrotja* to the satnav/google maps. We keyed in Sa Carrotja and it took us to a place outside of Campos in the opposite direction to Ses Salines. When we finally found our way to the finca, the hotel signage was so subtle that we drove past it. By this point we had lost an hour in the dark and it was nearly 10pm.

Having said that, we'd give it five stars for everything. The staff were wonderful, the breakfasts were amazing, the gardens and pool were lovely, it was incredibly peaceful and Ses Salines was a gem with a great choice of restaurants all within walking distance. We'd love to go back.

Monnaber Nou was amazing too in so many different ways. The location is amazing. I could sit on that front terrace all day just looking at the views out towards the coast and the house itself has such a fantastic history and feel.

Service and value for money I'd rate at five, especially as we had the upgrade to the suite with kitchenette. Sleep quality and cleanliness maybe a three, only because our room was at the back of the hotel where there was quite a bit of kitchen noise and the room did feel a bit tired and grubby (very low water pressure in the shower with limited hot water and light bulbs that didn't work).

Food was a mixed experience. Breakfasts were fantastic, with the most amazing choice and views  from the balcony to ease you into the day. Evening meals, of which we only tried once, seemed to be trying a bit too hard, with wonderful local ingredients disguised with overly complicated sauces and flavours and strange combinations. My wife has spent most of her career as a food journalist so found it a little disappointing that they weren't making the most of what they have in abundance on their doorstep. Maybe they cater for a different client set and we are of course massively spoiled for food choices and quality by living in London.

Again, having said that, we'd happily go back because of the location and tranquility of the place. Pollensa provided great restaurants to eat in and we had chance to both relax by the pool and explore further to places we'd not been to for a while. It was very tempting not to stray too far because the vibe is so relaxing there.

Hope that's not too harsh Henrik. We absolutely loved our holiday and would happily go back again to both places, very different though they were.

Regards

Hi Henrik

This place is so wonderful - we’re having a super break so far.

Have a lovely weekend

EA 07/23

We loved the hotel. The service and friendliness of the staff was first class. Our only criticisms were the lack of tea and coffee facilities in the room, no English speaking channels on the tv and the aircon seemed a bit temperamental. We asked for it to be fixed and it was done that day but it still didn’t seem very effective which subsequently made sleeping quite troublesome. The help and service given by Henrik was outstanding and I would highly recommend his company and would definitely book with him again.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?

Service - Super charming and friendly, Helena was always smiling and helpful. -1 for the odd occasion when it was difficult to find someone to help out.
Food - Breakfast was delicious. -1 for the range of options at the buffet - I've stayed at hotels where the b/fast is aMAZing. This b/fast was simply really good!
Value - Hotel felt a little bit pricey but maybe that's just the world being more expensive generally these days?
Sleep quality - My preference is for a firmer bed due to my back. Woke up in the night a couple of times with an achy lower back as it was a little too soft.
Overall - Lovely place to stay - chilled vibe, easy going, love the free bike hire, beautiful setting.

Hi Henrik

Thanks for your email. We had a most enjoyable holiday thank you and we are very grateful for your input and used the website a lot for research prior to booking and departing.

Sa Carrotja - Ses Salines
We loved this hotel, a little oasis of calm and comfort. Our room was beautifully quirky, with worn stone steps to the first floor, exposed beams, wooden shutters and cool tiled floors. The terrace was a joy to sit on in the relative cool of the mornings and evenings. The pool area was very comfortable, and gorgeous amongst the flowering shrubs and lemon trees. Breakfast was very nicely presented with a great choice of local produce. The bikes provided were a godsend, giving us a lovely means of transport into town in the evenings for delicious suppers at Bar Estarellas. When they were closed we were forced to use an alternative restaurant which was more expensive and not as much to our taste.
Ses Salines is rather curious place, seeming to be quite large but virtually deserted. The surrounding countryside has some nice places to visit though so I would recommend a car when at this hotel.
Son Sant Jordi - Pollenca
This was a very large contrast to our first accommodation. Set right in the heart of the town in very narrow but picturesque streets. Other travellers commented on the difficulty of parking and driving in the general area which I would agree with, there are a lot of cars with scratches on the paint work! However the pleasure of being able to step out of the door and access a wide variety of restaurants, and activities is compensation enough. The hotel itself is very comfortable and well appointed. There are tasteful pieces of original artwork on display and the gardens surrounding the pool are delightful. Breakfast in the morning is served in the gardens and made me feel like I was in the second Marigold Hotel! The staff were very lovely and accommodating and again would highly recommend this hotel and area. The only niggle for me was the lack of a balcony or terrace as I’m not keen in sitting indoors. but it is an old building, not a modern Lego hotel. Pollenca  is very lovely and the market a delight. A drive out to Cap Formentor for an evening walk along the beach and watching the sunset from the hilltop viewpoint was a delight.

On the way back to the airport on our last day we detoured slightly to take in a trip to the Caves at Campanet which were very impressive.

We would mark both hotels 5 in all categories, having no negative thoughts on either and being extremely happy in both.

Thank you again for your efficiency and promptness in dealing with everything I certainly will mention you on TripAdvisor and would have you as our go to, if we are lucky enough to return. The only suggestion I would make is for you to revisit some of your posts as the dates on some of them are quite old. It gives the impression that, rightly or wrongly that information may not be up-to-date.

Wishing you all the best

Kind regards

Thanks Henrik we had a lovely stay overall. In terms of our itinerary:

- second hotel, Sa Carrotja, near ses salines. Incredibly helpful staff, lovely big pool, great room, delicious breakfast, pretty gardens, can walk to see salines. Would definitely go back.
- Costa Dor - loved this location. Amazing view, nice room with a balcony, helpful staff, great restaurant service. Only slight downside was food itself was not very good, especially compared to other hotels. Larger scale catering but not nearly as much attention to detail. Restaurant food a bit mediocre but worth eating there anyway for the view. Would definitely go back.
- hotel san jordi  Pollenca. Staff very friendly, clean, breakfast lovely but would not stay there again. We had a downstairs room which was like being on the street opposite a busy restaurant. The room was set up with large shutters so you had a small shaft of light at the top. Nothing dried in it and it started to feel very damp. It was not a good place to spend time due to lack of natural light. We did ask to be moved but were told nothing was available. We were very keen to leave. Pool pretty but too small for amount of people and often full with children.

Thanks for your help, and to reiterate overall we had a great holiday but would not put people in san jordi again unless they can confirm you won’t be in the basement rooms.

With all good wishes

Hi Henrik,

I meant to write to you. I was just rushing to catch up with work and to get ready for Serbia i was supposed to fly this morning to go and see my family. However i had to cancel everything because they all got covid?

I will reply to you in detail over the weekend if you don't mind.

In short, holiday was amazing but would like to provide proper feedback!

I am interested in a holiday to Provence or Tuscanny for next spring.

Thank you so much for everything!

Hello Henrik,

Sa Carrotja was a beautiful, peaceful and homely family run Hotel. The staff were attentive and helpful. The bedroom we had, had a lot of charm and personality. We felt we were in a villa and not a Hotel. Great pool and a place that felt very cared for.
The environment allowed us all to relax and appreciate the beautiful setting.

Thank you Henrik for being so helpful all along, and for the generous dinner offer.
We and my French family loved the environment and it suited all age groups very well.
I would be interested in the future in places you might know in Provence. We had to cancel our late August trip to France due to current need to quarantine on return to the UK.

With Best Wishes,

Hello Henrik,

We arrived a few hours ago. Sa Carrotja is really beautiful and so peaceful. Thank you very much for all your help. I will definitely book again with Rural Hotels Mallorca.

Hi Henrik, we had a great time thank you for another lovely holiday. We had everything we could wish for and it was so relaxing. Hello Henrik, We had been meaning to report our experience and your Email reminded us. Generally we had a nice time but not without reservations. Here is our feedback about the three hotels. First the Petit Hotel and Fornalutx. This was an area we knew from last year. The village is very picturesque with a number of good restaurants, bars and cafes and the surrounding countryside spectacular with good walks of various difficulties. The hotel was well positioned for the village which was reachable easily on foot. Parking was an irritation and would have been more so in high season. The hotel we thought was a bit “tired”. Our room was dark with the view visible just through a narrow window obscured by the bathroom built out on the back. The bathroom itself was large but you had to step over the high bath side to get in the shower. Water temperature control was poor and it had a plastic curtain which clung unpleasantly to the body. The beds were comfortable and they were all upgraded with memory foam mattress toppers whilst we were there. We thought the money could have been better spent on the bathrooms. We only ate breakfast in the hotel which was adequate. If we go back to the area we would find somewhere else and would not recommend it to friends. Last year we stayed a C’an Quatre near Soller which was so much better. Service: 3, Food: 3, Cleanliness: 3, Value for money: 3, Sleep quality: 4. Now the wonderful Son Cardaix near Arta. A beautiful, substantial conversion of an old farm house in lovely peaceful surroundings. The hotel had been equipped with remarkably few guest rooms which added to the feeling of space. Our suite was magnificent with its own secluded terrace. Very friendly laid back staff. Breakfast was good and we had just 1 dinner in the hotel which was very good. Nearby Arta was an interesting small town with plenty of restaurants. Unfortunately it was too far to walk. This was the only snag. We recommend it and would go back. Service: 4.5, Food: 4.5, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 5, Sleep quality: 5. Finally Sa Carrotja, Ses Salinas. This is a pretty hotel in a quiet location, surrounded by olive groves and orchards. However, compared with Son Cardaix it was a disappointment, particularly as it was costing more. Our room (not a suite) was quite small with no view. A gravel access road to other properties ran along our side of the hotel within 2 metres of our door. Though not busy, traffic crunched along the road at any time day or night. Horses too, with riders heads bobbing along above the wall. The bed was comfortable though the pillows were a bit firm. Breakfast was quite good and served in the lovely courtyard and available for a long time in the morning. At other times there was a self-serve facility which we used for tea and biscuits some afternoons. We thought it was mean to have been charged for this especially as we were paying a lot for the room. We went into town each evening for dinner. It was just about a walkable distance. Ses Salinas is a neat town with a number of restaurants. We liked it and the surrounding area though it had the feel of a German colony rather than a cosmopolitan holiday place. It rather limited our conversation opportunities. We would probably look for somewhere else to stay if we were to go back to this area. Service: 3, Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for money: 2, Sleep quality: 4. I hope this is all helpful

Dear Henrik, Once again thank you for all your help in advising us on our latest holiday in Mallorca. Both Ses Cases de Fetget and La Carrtoja were excellent hotels for a quiet rural holiday with particularly easy access to the harbours, beaches and resorts on the east coast. They both score five out of five on all the points of your rating system:- Service/Food/Cleanliness/Value for money/Sleep qualitySes Cases de Fetget is particularly notable for its contemporary feel, superb location, with 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside, from its extensive garden, and a spectacular restaurant which was clearly a hit with not only the residents but diners from a wider area. Sa Carrotja is a delightful hotel with a more traditional feel, a wonderful garden and a really lovely courtyard dining area with a gorgeous bougainvillea draping over the covered dining area. The food was traditional and very tasty, we ate there five out of the seven nights we stayed. The restaurant and kitchen staff were very friendly and looked after us extremely well. We were looking for a relaxing holiday with good food, quiet small and friendly hotels not far from the coast and near a village for alternative dining opportunities. - We had it all!! Henrik, once again thank you for all your help and advice. Kind regards

Henrik, Please find our comments below: We absolutely loved Sa Carrotja. We were looking for the perfect tranquil place to relax and Sa Carrotja was it! It’s not at all glitzy, chic or pretentious (which we wanted to avoid) and was very real, rural and Majorcan. Which we loved. We felt very well looked after, in an old fashioned and discreet manner, and would highly recommend this place to anyone.  How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: 5, Food: We only ate breakfast at Sa Carrotja but that was great, including fresh eggs (laid that morning by Sa Carrotja hens) cooked any way that you wanted. Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: Excellent 5, Sleep quality: 5, Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Definitely yes.  Hope this helps. Thanks Henrik.

Hi Henrik, I trust all is well with you.  Firstly, my apologies for the tardy response to your mail but we’ve had a lot of problems with our computer which meant that we could access only some of our emails and send none.  If you get this you will see that it has been fixed! To cut to the chase, we would rate each category as 5 with the exception of the sleep quality which would attract a 5+ rating.  Whilst recognising the evening menu is a little restricted it is always tasty and represents good value.  We,   are extremely happy every aspect of Sa Carrotja, and are already setting our minds to our next visit. I rang Guillem from home to book dinner for our first night and as result of a 5 hour delay at Barcelona (another story) we were in touch with to keep him in the picture and a salad was there for us on our arrival at midnight!  What service. We received the usual warm welcome from the whole team who were attentive, but not over so, throughout our stay  and were booked into room 4 for 7 nights; this is our favourite room and we will go for that next time. Everything was so relaxing with the added bonus of being able to see Wales defeat Slovakia in the first Euro match, quite a celebration. Out best time in Mallorca yet, thanks again for introducing us to such a warm and friendly hotel. Kind regards,

CR 06/16

Henrik, Generally we had an excellent time in Mallorca and we are very grateful to you for the suggestions you made. We would recommend both places to a friend.  The only negatives were that Can Reus 'forgot' to clean our room one day and after the really excellent breakfast at Can Reus with coffee and orange juice served at your table, it was a bit of a let down to have to squeeze your own oranges and to have self service coffee out of a machine at Sa Carrotja with a much less impressive breakfast.  The attention to detail otherwise at Sa Carrotja was very impressive with a great pool area. It is a shame you do not provide a similar service in Italy!  Do you know of a company which does the same thing there? Kind regards We would rate the two venues as follows:  Can Reus.Service.4. Food.5 Cleanliness.4 Value for money.4 Sleep quality.4 Sa Carrotja Service.4 Food.4 Cleanliness.5 Value for money.4 Sleep quality.5

Dear Henrik, We have had such a good holiday with 30 degrees every day. So we have come home relaxed and refreshed. We enjoyed staying in two very different areas and much enjoyed the contrasts. In the south East, we found two very nice restaurants in Ses Salines and also a lovely one at Cala Figuera, overlooking the gorge. We also much enjoyed Restaurante Panoramica, and on your recommendation enjoyed an excellent Paella. We were though disappointed with the beaches, which were packed, even Es trenc and Colonia Sant Jordi was so crowded that we abandoned the walk towards the recommended beach at Es Cargol. Although we loved our finca, our bedroom was disappointing, very small and dark and positioned beside the front door, so that we were awoken by the early breakfasters Sa Carrotja is a lovely finca with delightful owners. The breakfast was outstanding as was the one dinner we enjoyed there. The pool area was delightful and never too full, with comfortable sunbeds. Service:  5 Food:      5 Cleanliness  5 Value for money  4 Sleep quality     3 Cas Curial was delightful and our suite was really lovely, (although some more infirm clients should be warned about the steep staircase.) It was lovely having a small balcony and it was very quiet. The pool area was also excellent, although one day they ran out of sunbeds, which were not very comfortable. Andreas snr and jnr couldn't have been more helpful and their recommendations for restaurants were also superb. We used Port Soller for most dinners and ate in house, one night. The dinner was very good, although the breakfasts weren't as good as Sa Carrotja. It was nice being able to walk into Soller and we had some lunches there and one dinner. Service: 5+ Food      4 Cleanliness  5 Value for money  4 Sleep quality    5 I hope that this is helpful. Best wishes

Hi Henrik, Just a little note to thank you for setting up our holiday at Sa Carrotja, it was, as you said it would be, simply special. We received a very warm welcome and the attention to our wishes that Guillam and his team provided was first class throughout our stay.  It was a very relaxing time and the upgrade we received on arrival only added to the experience.  Sa Carrotja is fixed on our radar for next year and we will try and sought ourselves early so that we do not mis out again. Thanks again and kind regards,

Dear Henrik, We had a brilliant week in Mallorca. Many thanks for your help with choice of different hotels and recommendations. The info really helped with deciding how to spend our time and where to go. Hired a car at the Airport.  A map with your recommendations highlighted, geographically, would be a useful addition to the info you provided. Ca’s  Sant was wonderful! Beautiful Finca.  Lovely room, antique furniture, very clean; Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water in room was much appreciated. Service excellent, Wonderful breakfast well worth the 14 euros and the marmalade, made on site, was to die for....brought some home. Slept very well.....enjoyed the pleasant walk into Soller, which we loved, especially watching the world go by, with a glass of vino, sitting at one of the cafes in the square. Also enjoyed trips to Deia, Valdemossa and Fornalutz- beautiful and interesting. Amazing scenery and architecture. Went to the Restaurant “Es Faro” at your recommendation, quite pricey, but had a fabulous meal –very attentive staff – amazing views over Puerto Soller. Certainly a highlight of our week. Overall rating 5. Would recommend highly, to a friend. Sa Carrotja. Initially not so enchanted by  the area, probably because it is so much flatter, but first impression was of a lovely Finca. Not so keen on modern style of decor/furniture. Had to wait 10 mins for someone to greet us on arrival but nice reception when they came, some communication difficulties. Pleasant room. No complimentary drinks/bottled water in room. Slept well, shower, ok. Breakfast OK, again Buffet style. Dinner optional. We ate out and really enjoyed your recommendation of restaurant Es Farinera – fabulous food. Also loved your recommendation of the little harbour and boardwalk at Porto-Petro? Went to Beach Es Trenc, was lovely, 4 euros for admission to park. Very, very busy even at 5pm in the evening. Spent a lovely relaxing day, sunbathing and swimming at the pool, which was marvellous. Overall rating 4. Would recommend. Monnaber Nou, Beautiful location, didn’t start well at Reception though....cool reception, professional but not very friendly. Shown to room next to the Bike shed! Not impressed. Specially as we had specifically requested and paid more for a room within the main house. After returning to reception we were initially told that the main house was fully booked, then reluctantly shown a room on the top floor with front view, through small window, which we accepted. Room was dark, but very nicely furnished with lovely en-suite. No complimentary drinks/water in room. Ate in beautiful Restaurant which had gorgeous views, dinner good. Breakfast ok – not so keen on Buffet style. Pool very cold but pool staff pleasant; bar food at pool, satisfactory. Next day change of receptionist, Cati, who was extremely pleasant and helpful re restaurant booking and directions. Went to Cap Formentor and restaurant “Bar Nou” at Pollenca – your recommendationss – both excellent, though Cap Formentor trip( fabulous coastal views) was very busy/ long queue on road to car park. Had great Paella at Bar Nou. Loved Pollenca, especially the open air market on Sunday morning. Overall  rating 3.5. Mainly because of traumatic start to our stay and the contrast with the warmth and attention of service at Ca’s Sant. Also being most expensive, our expectations were higher. Would recommend but with reservations.   Overall, we had a fabulous week and definitely want to return to Mallorca as soon as possible. Thanks again, Kind regards,

We had a great holiday thank and we will definitely look at  other places to visit in Mallorca. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 5 Food: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 5 Sleep quality:5 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes. The hotel is set in wonderful grounds with abundant flowers, fruit trees and olive trees. The hotel pool was peaceful with plenty of sun beds and umbrellas. There are two covered terraces which you can have breakfast and dinner. The breakfast is served from 8.30 to 12.00 o'clock and is a very relaxed affair with a great choice of fresh fruit, yoghurts, breads, pastries, cold meats, salads, cereals and eggs from their own chickens cooked to order.  There are oranges which you can squeeze yourself for really fresh juice. What bliss to have no pressure to rush breakfast. During the day the honesty bar was great to be able to help your self to hot and cold drinks. Also fresh fruits and small snacks. Diner is good value and although the menu is small you can always find something to suit. The dinner menu uses seasonal produce and produce from the garden. We stayed in room 4 with a lovely terrace overlooking the gardens with chairs and umbrella. The room was a good size with a separate siting area down a few steps. The beds were very comfortable and the air conditioning controlled by the room.  Nice bathroom with shower over the bath and plenty of towels and pool towels which you can also use for the beach. Two small points the hot water could have been hotter. If you are infirm the steps up to the room are quite steep. But there are rooms on the ground floor. You can walk into the small village and there are a good choice of eating places. It takes no more than 10 - 15 minutes and is a level walk. The owners and staff are friendly and want to make your stay enjoyable. Would love to return and hopefully will.

Hi Henrik,  We had a fantastic time in Mallorca, thanks for your help with our last minute bookings.  Review of both hotels below; Sa Carrotja : How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 4 Food: Breakfast - 4 Evening meal - 3 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 4 Sleep quality: 5 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? A really nice, fairly traditional feeling finca.  Not much in the way of internal relaxing space, and didn't feel as luxurious as other rural hotels we've stayed in (e.g. size of room, quality of furniture etc) - but then it wasn't as expensive.  Breakfast was good, evening meal was fairly average.  A good base to explore some of the beaches in the south of the island.   Wouldn't rush back here, but it was a nice place to stay and would recommend. Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?  Would recommend staying here, but perhaps not eating in - the town of Ses Salines is within walking distance and there are a couple of nice restaurants there. Son Bernadinet : How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 5 Food: Breakfast - 5  // Evening Meal/Lunch - 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 4 Sleep quality: 5 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes - a beautiful, stylish and modern take on the traditional Spanish finca. Very relaxing stay. Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay? Bedroom suite was beautifully designed - relaxing and cool.  Bed was enormous. The pool was a really good size as well, and sits in nice grounds.  A great place for a short break. Kind regards,

Dear Henrik, Sorry for answering so late but we just came back from Mallorca this week-end. Sa Carrotja is great ! 5 points for all: service, food, cleanliness, value for money and sleep quality. Of course a lower price would be appreciated but at the end it's ok ! We definitively recommend Sa Carrotja to friends. The place is quiet and beautiful, the people are friendly, gentle and service oriented and the location is good because next to beaches but in a rural atmosphere.  Garden and pool are lovely, breakfast is great. Rooms, bathrooms and beds are very good, very clean.

JS 08/15

We enjoyed Sa Carrotja - pretty setting etc and easy access to local beaches, restaurants and shops. We found that the hotel wasn't as pro active with it's help and advice as El Encinar.  They were there if we wanted them but didn't come forward with suggestions or make any mention of the bicycles! But this wasn't a problem.  We thought they could have made more use of their wonderful flowers - perhaps by putting some small, simple arrangements on the tables or in the bedrooms. Hi Henrik, Just returned from our holiday in Mallorca and wanted to say thank you for your recommendations. Hotel Mirabo was fabulous and Antonio made us very welcome nothing was too much trouble and the room and view were truly amazing! Ca’n Reus was a little disappointing but again the views were truly fabulous and we enjoyed 2 very nice meals in local restaurants. Sa Carrotja was perfectly located for both the beach at Es Trenc and the short walk to Ses Salines and the fantastic restaurant Casa Manolo! Trying to park in Palma was challenging (my mistake I should have contacted you before we left!) but nevertheless Hotel Tres was also a lovely place to stay. I will definitely recommend you to friends wanting to do something similar and we are thinking about a trip to Menorca next! Many thanks again. Best wishes

I would recommend Sa Carrotja to a friend that was looking for a quiet, peaceful retreat within driving distance of some great beaches.  Our stay at Sa Carrotja was very relaxing and enjoyable. After looking at several fincas in Mallorca, with  Henrik's help, we decided on Sa Carrotja, mainly because it had great reviews and had a double bed available. However, we were pleasantly surprised to experience just how peaceful and charming it was. The gardens are more expansive than the photos would indicate, and it is quite isolated from other properties and street noise. The breakfast was wonderful, we felt the freedom to linger while we read and drank coffee from the cappucino maker. The room could be made very dark and quiet, and we hardly noticed any of the other guests. Sa Carrotja is very well located to make day trips to area beaches, and we would highly recommend using a car to do this. The owners are very helpful and flexible to our needs, they even had spare beach umbrellas for borrowing. Service: 5 Food: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Value for Money: 4 Sleep quality: 5

Dear Henrik, I am sorry this has taken some time but coming to Majorca was a holiday within a holiday, and I only returned home on Saturday. I booked your hotel from the internet, having no idea of the kind of hotel or the area.  It was part of a 50th birthday treat for my daughter, Jane. It was the most wonderful experience!  No one could have described the welcoming people and absolute peace of Sa Carrotja. On one of the evenings we were there, we walked into the village of Ses Salines and it was so friendly. I have told so many people so far about this hotel and will certainly be recommending it to many more. Thank you for helping me find perfection. Regards

Hi Henrik, The one thing that would stop me recommending Sa Carrotja is the fear of spoiling the secret. Firstly let me say thank you for all your help and the questions we had that were answered by return, every thing you said was ready as promised down to the towels for the pool and beach also the umbrellas. We didn't travel far, we found two excellent restaurants in the village both in comfortable walking distance which we alternated with eating at the hotel. There is also an excellent bakery that sells Mallorcan pies, really worth a try also pastries to ruin any diet. Our rooms were on two floors with a lounge upstairs, all were immaculate spacious with comfortable beds and excellent air conditioning.  If you don't like peace and quiet San Carrotja is not for you. The pool was a joy and often we were the only residents using the facility. We were also fortunate that many of the shrubs were in flower adding to the super secluded setting. Breakfast could easily have gone on till late morning with fresh DIY crushed oranges super fruit and all the other choices of bread, meats and freshly cooked eggs done to your choice. The staff and of course the dogs made us very welcome and everything was value for money. We have longed for a small quiet hotel that gets away from the package tour, yes you need to book your own flights and a car but this is little hardship. All we want now is to try another Henrik recommendation but you have a lot to live up to. Many thanks

Henrik we had at lovely stay at Sa Carrotja. We would certainly give everything a 5 except it missed a kettle in bedroom. We will recommend this hotel to friends and family. A great holiday stop near a number of lovely but busy beaches.  The poolside  is a great place to relax and catch the sun before going back to the terrace for some lovely home cooked Majorcan food at very reasonable prices. Thanks again for recommendation.

Hi Henrik Great time and well looked after by both Hotels. They both score 5 across the board but to be picky I would highlight the pros and cons Sa Carrotta The self-help / honesty system a massive hit and you should encourage all your connections to adopt Initially we were allocated a room in the main house which meant negotiating a steep and spiral staircase—don’t worry we were immediately put in a room within the grounds and on ground level however had this not been possible my wife’s mobility being impaired would have made this stay a nightmare Son Caradaix The ‘eggs’ at breakfast problem has been resolved and fresh eggs offered each day Breakfast was no way near as good as Sa Carrotta and looked ‘mean’ in comparison—more local breads rather than frozen supermarket types are needed –being honest breakfast was boring. On the last day we had a 7.30 start and communications failed and we left without any breakfast at all. The night before we left the hair dryer in both ground floor rooms did not work—Val was far from happy The mesh on windows remains damaged and biting insects were present all the time We would stay again as we love the area but if Sa Carrotta was near we would likely chose over Son Cardiax on the honesty and beakfast offerings. I know it’s not easy to change and keep up with demands but people do make more and more demands and these hotels are priced near the top of the market

Thank you, We had a lovely holiday, the service 5, food 5, cleanliness 5, value for money 4, sleep quality 2. It’s a very relaxing place to be and everyone was charming. We liked the informality there very much. Nights were pretty bad due to very average pillows and barking dogs! But hopefully for his sake it could be resolved. Yes, we would definitely recommend it, but you have to be willing to drive. I hope this is helpful. Kind regards

Overview

In the south of the island, between fields of almond and fig trees, just 500 m from the village of Ses Salines and 6 km from the sea, stands the ancient stone house of Sa Carrotja, one of the oldest in the village.

Sa Carrotja is a construction typical of the Mallorcan rural scene, dating from the 16th century and now completely restored. The restoration has preserved the traditional and original character of the house, whilst adapting to the comfort needs of modern living.

The 9 rooms in the house have been meticulously restored for the guests to enjoy a comfortable break in a relaxing atmosphere, where the quality of the materials is matched by simplicity and good taste.

In the kitchen, the breakfast is prepared using the wide assortment of typical home-made products from the Majorcan cuisine, selected for both their variety and their delicacy.

Since 2008 the hotel has also been producers of their own extra virgin olive oil from their plantation of 300 ecologically cultivated olive trees and the oil is used for preparing breakfasts and dinners.

For short journeys or if you fancy a spin, the hotel has bicycles available free of charge. Just 6 km away are some of the best beaches on the island, such as Es Trenc and the pretty beaches of Colonia de Sant Jordi, such as Carbo and Dolç. Not far away you can find the small coves which are typical of the area and a delightful setting for an enjoyable holiday.

The area offers a good variety of leisure activities such as tennis, horse riding, golf and walking or cycle routes, in addition to well-known shopping areas and restaurants. The only hot water thermal spa on the island is 4 km away.

The serene and peaceful atmosphere will make you feel relaxed as soon as you arrive.
