HOTELS

Thanks for  your  emails and  sorting out a  break at  short  notice.  Some comments!

Rural Hotels; not having  been to  Mallorca before  you gave  very quick and clear responses  and  with  various  good  ideas  of where to  stay for  a last  minute holiday.  Very helpful and  personable  service. We’d be  happy to use you  again  Thank you

Hotel  Monnaber Nou; The plumbing was a  bit  dated – shower head ran off the  bath  taps with  no thermostat – not  great to  use.    Drinking water in the  room – didn’t  taste very good and  two 1/2ltr bottles given when we arrived  lasted a few  mins.  They  only  sold  small bottles so  we bought a load  of   2.5ltr bottles from a shop.     Having said that it’s in  a lovely rural setting with  pretty   building(s)  and pool.  Great friendly staff  and  the   evening restaurant  served good food.  Very clean throughout.   We  enjoyed our  6 nights there.

Hotel Tres;  Good  central  location,  lovely staff,  good  breakfast,  spotlessly clean and  comfortable  -

We had a  good time.  Thank you  Henrik

Regards,  Dominic and Penny

We loved our stay at Monnaber Neu. Thank you for being so helpful especially with the car hire/collection.  We would definitely recommend the hotel to friends. It was beautiful, peaceful and felt like we were seeing the real Majorca.

Many thanks for all of your help in booking our recent last-minute trip to Mallorca. We are now back at home but did think seriously about extending our stay for a few days longer. We are already thinking about the next trip!

Monnaber Nou was amazing too in so many different ways. The location is amazing. I could sit on that front terrace all day just looking at the views out towards the coast and the house itself has such a fantastic history and feel.

Service and value for money I'd rate at five, especially as we had the upgrade to the suite with kitchenette. Sleep quality and cleanliness maybe a three, only because our room was at the back of the hotel where there was quite a bit of kitchen noise and the room did feel a bit tired and grubby (very low water pressure in the shower with limited hot water and light bulbs that didn't work).

Food was a mixed experience. Breakfasts were fantastic, with the most amazing choice and views  from the balcony to ease you into the day. Evening meals, of which we only tried once, seemed to be trying a bit too hard, with wonderful local ingredients disguised with overly complicated sauces and flavours and strange combinations. My wife has spent most of her career as a food journalist so found it a little disappointing that they weren't making the most of what they have in abundance on their doorstep. Maybe they cater for a different client set and we are of course massively spoiled for food choices and quality by living in London.

Again, having said that, we'd happily go back because of the location and tranquility of the place. Pollensa provided great restaurants to eat in and we had chance to both relax by the pool and explore further to places we'd not been to for a while. It was very tempting not to stray too far because the vibe is so relaxing there.

Sa Carrotja was amazing and so so nice to explore a part of the island that we've not visited for a long time. Our flight out to Mallorca was delayed and there were horrific queues picking up our hire car so by the time we got there it was dark and quite a challenge to find.

We think that it's very important to tell other guests to key in *Finca Sa Carrotja* to the satnav/google maps. We keyed in Sa Carrotja and it took us to a place outside of Campos in the opposite direction to Ses Salines. When we finally found our way to the finca, the hotel signage was so subtle that we drove past it. By this point we had lost an hour in the dark and it was nearly 10pm.

Having said that, we'd give it five stars for everything. The staff were wonderful, the breakfasts were amazing, the gardens and pool were lovely, it was incredibly peaceful and Ses Salines was a gem with a great choice of restaurants all within walking distance. We'd love to go back.

Hope that's not too harsh Henrik. We absolutely loved our holiday and would happily go back again to both places, very different though they were.

Regards

This hotel is a great oasis from the mass tourist resorts of the coast. The only minor improvement I would suggest is for some specific guidance to find the hotel from the motorway because satnav takes a very challenging route through Campanet (for a first visit)

Sorry, been meaning to reply to this for ages ! Hope all is well with you.

We had a great time at the Monnaber Nou, and by complete and utter chance some friends of ours were also staying, although we only crossed over for our final night.

Re the categories - I would give everything a 5, apart from the food which I would give a 4. Stuff would run out at breakfast, and one morning Louise ordered boiled eggs - after waiting 20 mins we gave up. We only had 2 dinners at Monnaber Nou as most evenings we went to Pollença, which has some really great restaurants.

Hope that helps - certainly for families with teenagers (as both we and our friends were) I would thoroughly recommend it.

Best regards

Hi Henrik, we had a great holiday thanks and the hotel was very good,
The arrangements with the hire car were great and all went well
You may have them on your list of hotels, but one night we walked to the Monnaber Vell for
Dinner, the hotel is superb and a touch more modern than the  Nou , we think next time we may try this, it would be good to deal through you
Many thanks once again and we will recommend “henrik rurul hotels majorca “ to our friends
Kind regards

Thank you for organising everything for us. We had a lovely holiday and your service was a huge help.

Car hire great.

Hotel - beautiful setting, good value, Monica on reception very helpful; Juanjo much less so; slightly Fawlty Towers in some ways eg: endless problems with AC dripping etc and reluctance to swap out towels or give to new guests, but a very special place we would never have found without your help.

We had a lovely holiday!

Thank you so much Henrik for arranging such a wonderful holiday for us. When we go back to Mallorca we will definitely let you know and perhaps stay in multiple places as you recommended.

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?

Yes, Monnaber Nou was very welcoming and family-friendly.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Monnaber Nou. The staff were welcoming, friendly and very willing to help with anything we needed (such as recommendations on places to go, and lending us a beach umbrella for our first beach day out) We were able to get into a lovely routine while we were away spending mornings out and evenings by the pool. Both residences having different pools was wonderful, it was like somewhere new without having to go far away. The kids lived off the bolognese during our stay (which was delicious!) and the food and service at the restaurant was wonderful, the atmosphere magical. We're very pleased that we stayed away from the beach, it was nice to come back from the bustle of the bigger towns and be able to unwind.

Yes

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?
We arrived ahead of check in time, and they were extremely accommodating in getting our family apartment ready asap.
Breakfast was good - if you arrived after 9am some things looked a little 'tired' but it was about 39 degrees so that's to be expected.
We only ate in the restaurant once in the evening - and it was really nice, fresh and tasty.
The restaurant staff were all amazing. One evening we had dinner with the kids and the next morning when my husband and I turned up for breakfast the waiter said, 'would you like the table set up for 4?' - details like that really impress in that the staff really took the effort to take notice of our needs as guests.
On the 2nd day I got an email from the hotel asking how things were, and I mentioned it would be good to have a kettle and hey presto, when we returned to the room there was one waiting for us.
Pools were lovely, grounds also lovely, and everyone from the gardeners to the chap sweeping the courtyard would always have a smile and a cheery 'hola' and it felt like they enjoyed working there as opposed to being friendly because they had to be.

We don't tend to go back to the same place twice because we like to explore new places - but this really did seem to have it all!

Do you have any rural hotel accommodation with a private pool?

best regards,

Hi Henrik,

Apologies for the delay! Busy summer...

We had a wonderful time at Monnaber Nou, and we will definitely go back. Below I’ve answered to questions...

How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:
Service: 5* everyone was great, particularly Ricardo and the other chap who did breakfast at the pool house (I can’t remember his name)
Food: 4* The food was excellent in the restaurant, I only put 4* as I would have like to see more seafood option. And a paella! I think for lunches and by the pool they had the right things on the menu but it could be extended a little more to give more choice.
Cleanliness: 5*
Value for money: 5*
Sleep quality: 5*

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? I’d definitely recommend it to a friend, and we will definitely go back hopefully next summer. What would have made it even more amazing would be keeping the bar open in the pool house much later. Sometimes the kids would be in the pool until 7.30pm and that was the time we’d have a nice cool G&T whilst relaxing before getting ready for dinner. It was a shame that 6pm was the latest to have a drink down there. Also sometimes if we wanted a simple meal rather than the finer dining in the restaurant it would have been great to have that option to eat down there a little later too. Oh and my kids would have loved pizzas on the bar/kids menu.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?
We had a wonderful stay at Monnaber Nou. The staff were helpful and friendly, the rooms were spacious and clean, and the pool areas were great for all the family throughout the day. The fine dining in the restaurant was delicious and we felt really well looked after. We are excited to visit again hopefully next summer.

Thanks Henrik, maybe next year we can go again fingers crossed.

Definitely, as long as they are happy to hire a car as it is a little bit remote. But this was perfect when we went to the busier places and came back to the hotel.

staying at Monnaber Nou was absolutely perfect for our family with three children aged 5, 8 and 13! They loved the pool and the independence of the hotel grounds. We also loved getting to know the local area and also visiting Porto pollensa and other places for the day.

Thanks again,

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay? This place is so frustrating. It could be incredible but needs more staff and a manager who knows how to extract the most from a venue that has unbelievable potential. For example, put tables out on the terrace before dinner and actually employ someone to take a drinks order. Maybe play some classical or operatic music? The views are incredible, make use of it, for guests and the hotel p&l. A gem that needs polishing and staffing properly.

Will come back to you for a weekend couples venue in November.

Cheers

Hello,
We had a wonderful stay with you.

The facilities were great. We stayed in a suite and the air conditioning did not reach the main bed so it was very hot. A fan or second air conditioner for the hotter months would be great.

The food options were great.

Everyone was very lovely and we would like to come back again sometime

Hi Henrik

Thank you for your email and sorry for the delayed response. We had a fabulous time in Monnaber Nou! It’s such a beautiful and peaceful place we loved. The pool and the air conditioned rooms certainly helped during the heatwave. I would definitely recommend the hotel to a friend.

There are a few things that they can to improve such as a bit later breakfast as strict 8-10am is bit too early given very late start to diner service everywhere. Even the kids don’t get to go to bed before 22.00-23.00h every night and strict 10am cut off time for breakfast most guests found rather early.

The little kitchen is not very well equipped! We didn’t cook at all but the basic necessaries Such  as tea/coffee making facilities were lacking (no kettle included).

Most staff members were very friendly and helpful.

We will definitely look for another amazing rural place for next time and certainly use your website for this.

Many thanks for your help and look forward to our next trip soon.

Kind Regards

Hi Henrik

We had a great week at Monnaber Nou, thank you.  Please see ratings and comments in red below.

Rather than move to the apartment in the main hotel after the first night, we stayed in the Garden House for the week.  It was very peaceful, great service and a pool right outside our door.   Apart from evening visits to a few local restaurants we did very little other than relax by the pool in the heatwave.

Despite all the airport chaos, our flight out of Southampton was very easy with no queues.  Definitely recommended over LHR or LGW.

Thanks again for all your help with this.  We definitely plan to go back there either this Autumn or next Spring.

Dear Henrik,

We have just returned from a lovely 9 days in Majorca at the Monnaber Nou.  Thankfully the rain of the previous month had mostly passed and although not quite as warm as expected we were still able to enjoy walks, golf and even a few cycles.  The hotel was in a great location, staff were mostly very friendly and the facilities perfect for our needs.

As you had implied a lot of restaurants were closed but we found a few good ones open and enjoyed some lovely evening meals at the hotel.  Having the kitchenette facilities in our room was a really bonus!

Thanks again,

kind regards,

Nice property that suited us well. Wasn’t clear that where we stayed was a 2 minute drive from main area in details but not a big deal. Staff were nice enough but didn’t go out of their way to help. For example I wanted to book a scuba diving experience and they said look on internet!

Overall really nice, a lot bigger than the previous small family run one we went to with you ? Name but enjoyable nevertheless

Thanks

Hello Henrik

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Monnaber Nou.
The staff were very friendly and helpful. The pool and spa facilities were lovely, and we particularly enjoyed having the pool bar/café available there.
We had some great walks round the grounds, and 2 of our group did horse riding with the ‘cowboy’, which was fun.
The food and wine in the restaurant were good and the breakfast buffet too.
I think the photos on the website of the pool do not do it justice.

We look forward to booking with you again.

Hi

We had a lovely time thank you.

Here are our thoughts:
Service: 5
Food – Breakfast 5. We only had dinner on the first evening and arrived as the restaurant was closing so our review might not be entirely fair. Two of our party were disappointed with the meal – fish undercooked.  We thought the food was ‘heavy’ for the climate and we would have preferred simpler dishes such as grilled fish and salad.  Consequently we did not have dinner there again but explored the local towns and villages for eateries.
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 4
Sleep quality:  The plumbing in the family apartment needs attending to.  There must be an apartment or something above and in one of the bedrooms you hear the water flushing – at first we thought there must be a leak in our apartment until we realised that it was coming from above.  Also the shower in the apartment is woeful – no pressure. The kitchenette is not well equipped, for example, we had to ask for a kettle.

However, the setting of the hotel was beautiful as were the buildings and swimming pools.  Staff very friendly and helpful.
I hope this helps.

Best wishes,

PH 08/21

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? I would definitely recommend the hotel to friends. I really enjoyed the stay and would go back to the same place the next time I’m in Mallorca.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay? I really enjoyed the hotel. The pool was fantastic and my daughter had a great time. I enjoyed having lunch in the gazebo and the ability to order drinks was really nice too. I felt the staff was very helpful and friendly and they had some good recommendations. My only complaint is the fact that there were plastic water bottles but no way to fill up my own reusable metal bottle. I think access to fresh, drinkable water should be included—either through it being filtered or with a place where you could fill your bottle (big bottles which get replaced) Here are two links  https://lookmallorca.com/cleanwave-movement/ (https://www.majorcadailybulletin.com/news/local/2021/01/17/77617/palma-mallorca-filtered-drinking-water-fountains.html)
As an EcoHotel I expected more from the hotel. Plastic water bottles end up in the sea. When I went to Cala San Vicenc, I was saddened to see so much plastic floating in such a beautiful and pristine location.

Other than the issue for the water, I have no other complaints.

Thanks so much for the help in choosing the location. It was dreamy.

Kind regards,

Dear Henrik,
We had a lovely stay at Monnaber Nou, thank you. It was exact what we wanted and we hardly moved except for driving to the beach a couple of days and for the pcr tests and to restaurants in Pollensa most evenings.
1-5 where 5 is the best rating:
Service: 5. Lovely owner and staff. Very helpful and friendly and very careful to always wear masks.
Food: 4 (portions were too small for our 20-yr-olds!). Breakfast was good (except for the coffee, from a machine)
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 4 (it was more than we normally spend for a holiday.
Sleep quality: room 108: good. Room 107: poor this had a bad drain smell and the mossies came in when we opened the window. But we were happy that the kids were offered the room in the main house even though we had booked the cheaper outbuilding, as that was a long walk away.

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Definitely.

Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?
We had a lovely 8-night stay. The rural setting is perfect, the hotel and outdoor terrace restaurant are calm, the staff are professional, friendly and helpful. The pool area is well designed, with plenty of shade and a decent size pool for swimming, plus shallow areas for children and a jacuzzi and water jets, and a separate indoor pool and jacuzzi to shelter from the hot weather.

Thank you for facilitating such a nice holiday at short notice. It was a shame that Spain went from green to amber just after we booked, but we think it was worth all the bureaucracy of both governments, tests and form filling, and now for 10 days isolation for our son who only has one jab so far!

Best wishes

Hi Henrik, We had a lovely time, thank you. We loved Mallorca and it was perfect for our little ones. Feedback: Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for money: 3, Sleep quality: 5. Yes, we would absolutely recommend Monnaber Nou to a friend. The hotel itself and grounds were lovely and it was so peaceful to be situated amongst the olive groves and fig trees surrounding the estate. The pool was well maintained and food and drinks at the poolside bar were reasonably priced.  The only thing I would say is that although our room had a hob and fridge, it was very poorly equipped.  Apart from that, everything else was good. The only reason for the score of 3 on value for money is because it was expensive due to the summer holidays and being peak period. Thank you for the hotel recommendation. We would certainly look at your other hotels in the future. Thanks,

Hi Henrik, Please see below. Service: 4, Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for money: 3, Sleep quality: 5. We had a wonderful holiday, the rural location of this hotel was perfect for us.  The staff were all very friendly and helpful. It would also have been nice if the water features around the grounds had actually been working. All the best

Very please tell classic Mallorcan house with stunning views. Quiet location but easily accessible for north coast resorts of Pollença Porta Pollença Alcúdia and Formentor. Easy 40-minute drive from Palma. Good balance of relaxation and activities. Well placed as cycling base. One observation/suggestion; it would be nice to keep the spa area as a child-free zone as excitable children detracts from the relaxation enjoyment of that area. Yes, we had a good time, thank you. We’d rate as follows: Service 5, Food 4, Cleanliness 4, Value for money 4, Sleep quality 5. We would recommend Monnaber Nou to friends. We liked the quietness, solitude and setting. We deliberately didn’t have a car but would suggest one if you wanted to travel beyond the immediate vicinity, although we did walk to Campanet and cycled locally. We were in the annexe and enjoyed the less busy pool/bar and it made for a pleasant evening stroll up to and back from the main hotel for dinner (transport was readily available if you wanted it - we used it once on the first evening.) All in all it was a very pleasant first visit to Mallorca and we’re tempted to go again. Thanks for your help.

Hi Henrik! Currently at Monnaber so will complete survey on return to Northern Ireland... Nothing but praise!

Hi Henrik, If you don't like crowds and sitting like sardines in a beach, this is the place for you! A beautiful property in spacious grounds with plenty of room to find your own quiet area. Even in August the pools didnt get busy and plenty of sunbeds. Fantastic breakfast and nice to have the choice of eating at the garden house or main house. In summer they do a bbq every night with very reasonably priced food and drink. We didn't eat in the main restaurant. Only 5 mins drive from Campanet . Good location to get to other attractions - Pollença, Alcudia and under 40 mins to Palma. Hi Henrik, Thanks for getting in touch. We had a lovely stay in Majorca, we love the island and have been there the last six years but still discover amazing new places. Thank you for recommending the Monnaber Nou which we enjoyed very much. The location of the hotel was amazing and the facilities were good. We loved the choice of pools and as we had some overcast weather a couple of days it was nice to have the indoor spa. I should point out that I felt the spa was understaffed  - in fact I saw no staff, and would have liked to have booked a massage. Perhaps something to feed back?  I’ve answered your survey below  and wanted to give some additional feedback. While the rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable, the shower was awful with barely any pressure! Also breakfast was disappointing. The juices weren’t fresh and the machine coffee was horrible. It wouldn’t cost the hotel much to serve fresh coffee and serve freshly squeezed oranges which are so abundant and delicious on the island. I hope this feedback is helpful and we’ll be booking again with you soon

KM 08/18

Hi Henrik, Yes it was lovely and we really enjoyed the hotel. WE LOVED THE HOTEL, IT WAS VERY AUTHENTIC AND FRIENDLY. IT FELT CALM AND HIGH QUALITY. ALSO AS IT WASN’T TOO BIG WE FELT IT WAS VERY PERSONAL. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE WAS OUR ROOM WAS QUITE DISAPPOINTING AND DID NOT LOOK LIKE THE PICTURES. WE WERE AT THE BACK OF THE HOTEL AND DIDN'T HAVE A VIEW OR MUCH NATURAL LIGHT FROM THE WINDOWS. THAT SAID, WE WEREN’T IN THE ROOM VERY MUCH SO WE DIDN’T WORRY ABOUT IT.  How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: 4, Food: 5, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 4, Sleep quality: 4. IO 08/18

We had a super holiday, the house is well decorated  and was very pleasant to stay in. The only real complaint I would make is we had a leak from the top bathroom into the hall way which is not directly below the shower. I did flag this to the hotel but felt like they did not take it seriously despite me mentioning it on 3 separate occasions.  Water was actually dripping into the hallway! Apart from that all was well and I hope they have finally investigated the issue.

Hi Henrik, Very nice holiday thanks. Overall scores 4/5 for all three hotels. Monnaber Nou has gone down in my estimation regarding food & service in the restaurant. Some of the younger waiters were quite surly and lacked knowledge regarding local wines. Pool side service excellent lovely waiter Luca couldn't be more helpful. Sleep much better looks like they have upgraded their mattresses. Can Canals - food really excellent, staff very friendly & attentive. To be honest a bit too quiet for us. Son Bleda - again excellent food, service, very friendly. Sleep quality poor given no air conditioning. One thing that really annoys me is that none of the minibar fridges work properly - seems counter productive to me if the beer is cold I would drink it! Thanks again Henrik for your help.  Kind regards

Afternoon Henrik, We’re having a fantastic holiday in Mallorca, thanks to you, and we’d like to come back for a long weekend in September.

DM 07/18

Henrik, I would say Monnaber Nou and Can Canals would be the same. I’ve replied below. Service: 4/5. Food: 4/5. Cleanliness: 5/5. Value for money: 5/5. Sleep quality: 5/5

PC 07/18

Hello Henrik, Yes I'd be happy to give you the following feedback. Could I also add that the service I received from yourselves in booking the holiday could not have been better. You certainly did your utmost to make sure this holiday with my mother who has considerably reduced mobility was a success. Service:  The service at the Monnaber Nou was very good, Kati on reception was especially helpful. I found that the shower in my room had a very serious leak, she made sure that it was fixed the same day. I had told someone else on our first day but nothing had been done. Kati made sure that it was looked at and repaired the same day that I told her. 4/5 The service in the restaurant and pool bar was good. Lucca at the pool bar was especially attentive and helpful. Food: The food overall was good. I would rate dinner 4/5 and breakfast 3/5. We only ate lunch at the pool once and would give it 5/5.  Breakfast was slightly disappointing. Croissants were not always refilled very quickly. The bread was very good as was the jam and the fresh fruit selection was good. Coffee from the machine was ok once I'd copied a trick from a fellow guest and put an espresso and white coffee in the same mug, otherwise it was a short measure, weak and sweet. Fresh coffee would have been nice, but perhaps not possible unless staff numbers were increased. Cleanliness: General cleanliness around the hotel was good. 5/5. But my bathroom floor was poor especially around the toilet. I should have said something, but getting the shower fixed was a priority. The bed and bedlinen was absolutely fine. Value for money: This is tricky... 4 stars, but unlike anywhere I've ever stayed before. The setting, location and property is very special, so obviously you expect to pay for that. The facilities are probably a little below what you'd normally expect to find in a 4 star hotel. I'm thinking specifically of the bar. If you want drinks in the evening you have to order them from reception if you're not in the restaurant. Linked in with this is that light snacks and drinks would have been nice in the seating areas, bar or terrace. Sometimes we ate our main meal at lunchtime, so it would have been nice to have had a menu of light snacks available in the evening. Sleep quality: 5/5. Very quiet, comfortable bed. Very good. Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  Yes I would definitely recommend Monnaber Nou to a friend. Monnaber Nou is situated in a breathtaking location. Very relaxed atmosphere you can't help but unwind. A very special place and very charming: it is a holiday whose memories I'll treasure for a long time. Something I would mention, for thought, is that one or two disabled/priority parking spaces might be made available in the car park. The last couple of days I found that I had to drop my mother off before returning to park in the lower parking area because there were no spaces left. This was ok for me, but if there were a disabled couple together or even an elderly couple in the same situation it would have been quite difficult for them.  I would like to thank you Henrik for your service and hope that this feedback will be useful to you. Kind regards,

LC 06/18

Dear Henrik, Apologies for the delay in responding to your email below.  I have inserted my answers after your questions. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service:  Reasonable.  Not enough staff at breakfast to clear the tables.  By the end, not an enjoyable experience.  3 Food:   Breakfast was not very good.  The buffet was limited and the cooked food was limited to bacon sausage and eggs every day which was not cooked fresh.  There was one self-service coffee machine with a queue.    3 Cleanliness: Good  4 Value for money: Very good  5 Sleep quality: Very good once we had been moved to the main hotel from our rooms over the bike shed.   5   Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  Depends on the friend! Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay?  Very relaxing in beautiful surroundings.

SB 06/18

Dear Henryk, We loved Monaber Nou, but the greatest thing for us is not mentioned in your list: it is the situation and environment, the calm, the space, and the fact that this is run on ecological lines. We would definitely recommend the hotel to a friend who was looking for that sort of thing. Food was excellent, the Christmas eve dinner outstanding in spite of one rather strange pudding. Service was very good and friendly, apart from one rather dour gentleman sometimes in Reception. The lady there was very nice and obliging. Value for money was good, sleep quality was good apart from the fact that for one night we had extremely noisy neighbours, and the building with the apartments is not at all well insulated for noise. There were a few drawbacks in terms of practicality of the apartments: no waste paper bin in the room, and minimum equipment in the kitchen, not much space to put things in the bathroom, but this is very common in hotels.  We will certainly return there in preference to anywhere else, because of the situation, and all the animals, sheep, geese, peacocks, pigs, and of course all the very old olive trees.  I hope this is sufficient feedback for what you want. With bes wishes

Hi Henrik, Thank you very much for your assistance and guidance with hotels during our short stay on Mallorca. Monnabar Nou Hotel 3-6 Oct The hotel facilities and food was excellent however the rooms were a little tired, the first room we were offered was under the restaurant with view of stairs and requested a change - reluctantly they moved us to a garden room which was ok but nothing special. Service 2-3, Food 5, Cleanliness 3, Value 4, Sleep quality 3 Ideal if you speak German and enjoy cycling. Fornalutx Petit hotel 6-7 Oct, Lovely small hotel in Fornalutx - wonderful room overlooking the mountains, warm welcome would happily recommend to a friends. Service 5, Food 4 (only offers Breakfast), Cleanliness 3, Value 4, Sleep quality 5. Ideal as a mountain base for a few days.  Parking is a bit of an issue. Many thanks once again,

Hi Henrik, Thanks for your email more than happy to give you feedback – we are in the same line of business! Always nice to have feedback – whether it be good (its better) or bad, then at least you know what’s going on. Please see below. We wished to try something different other than Palma and Portal Nous and to enjoy the contrast and see other parts of Mallorca.  We certainly chose the right place, helped by Henrik who guided us to Monnaber Nou. It was exactly what we had in mind and the location was very rural and pleasant whilst being only 20 mins to Pollenca and Alcudia.  The countryside setting makes this a place to visit, especially in September when the weather is still a good 26c. The former farmhouse has lots of magical charm, the staff were very friendly and polite, the breakfast generous and extensive in choice and the room which we had, with a lounge / studio, and views over the front of the property, was excellent.  The restaurant food and selection of wine was first class, whilst not being too expensive –so overall good value for money.  The pool and sunbathing areas was spacious, pleasant and quite, and outside dining for lunch and snacks was great.  We would recommend and hope to be back at some stage. Service: 4, Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for money: 4, Sleep quality: 5, Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  Yes. Best Regards

Hi Henrik, We really enjoyed the hotel and thank you for your help! I have marked up the email below and I would not hesitate to recommend you to friends looking at holidaying in Mallorca We thought the hotel had great facilities and good service. The pool bar and restaurant were perfect during the day. We enjoyed a fantastic horse riding experience with Jamie. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: 5, Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for money: 4, Sleep quality: 3 ( aircon unit could not cope withthe high temperatures). Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes. Yours

Dear Henrik, Just a few words about our stay at Monnaber Nou... Firstly thank you for your help in arranging our dates, transfer and any confirmations needed. All requests were attended to promptly. The weather you had no control but it was wonderful. Monnaber is set in a stunning and peaceful location. If wanting to explore a car is required. If not going off site then local taxis are not expensive. A walk to the local caves is within comfortable walking distance even in the heat of the day: Giving an alternative coffee venue!! It was wonderful to hear the neck bells of the sheep and pigs ringing in the night. The sounds of dogs barking in the distance in stillness or the chatter of the birds or calls if the peacocks. It certainly a special location and somewhere to recharge the batteries.  The ability to use pools both at the main house and garden annex gave variety to both old and young. It was our first family holiday to Mallorca and after such a relaxed and happy time not the last... The staff at Monnaber were all friendly, polite, helpful and professional. A staff as we met are to be cherished they can make a holiday. Service:5 prompt, Food:5 plentiful and tasty, Cleanliness:5 excellent, Value for Money:5, Sleep Quality:4 beds a tad too firm. We highly recommend Monnaber to all looking for a relaxing, quite vacation or... use it as a base.

Dear Henrik, Just back from a fabulous trip to Monnaber Nou. Lovely hotel and we enjoyed the stay immensely.  Thank you for your recommendations.  We will be back! KR

Hi Henrik, Please see replies below inline in your email. And feel free to copy/paste/reuse any of this this on your website. Service: 4 (It would have been a five but upon arrival we had to stay in a different room, as ours was unavailable; then when we moved to ours (garden house); we in fact preferred the main house and moved again to get back to it. We bought a costlier room but loved it!) Food: 4 (It would have been a five but breakfast could have some rotation or change -- after a few days it becomes too repetitive.) Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 5 Sleep quality: 4 (It would have been a five but in our last room, which was a one-bedroom apartment, there was only air conditioning in the bedroom. Therefore the other room, which my sons slept in, was very hot for sleeping. We asked for a portable fan but they didn't have one, surprisingly...) Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  I totally recommend this hotel. Staying at the main house and its pool, terrace, grounds, etc are SO GORGEOUS! Everything is perfect: classy yet relaxed; old and full of history, but balanced with modern touches; grand, spacious, tranquil and so calming. It is absolutely lovely. Thanks so much getting us the baby-sitter and complimentary meal. What a thoughtful and generous thing to do. We were so pleased. A truly happy Mallorcan birthday for Nicola. Thanks,

MD 07/17

Hi Henrik, Well – what can I say!!! We had the best holiday ever! Your choice of hotel was perfect for us. The hotel – the food – the surroundings – the staff (right down to the lovely lady who cleaned the rooms) – everything was top drawer! I see on trip advisor some ill-informed and rude comments about the hotel – in our opinion – they are rubbish. Here are our ratings from 1-5: Service – 6, Food – 5, Cleanliness – 6, Value for money – 7, Sleep quality – 4. I’ve given this a 4 simply because it was very hot this year and in order for the hotel to regulate electric charges – you have to have your key card in the slot in the bedroom to have your air-con on. If you were away for the day when you returned the room was rather hot. Perhaps other continental travellers didn’t find the heat so hard to manage as we English folk!! :) I would recommend the hotel to anyone – and have. We have also spread the word about your website and excellent help. Many thanks for helping to make our holiday memorable.

TM 07/17

Hi Henrik, We had a lovely holiday, thank you for being so helpful! It was our first holiday with our 9 month old son and needless to say we were worried about how we manage with an infant. The staff at Monnaber Nou however were fantastic! They couldn't try harder to make sure we had everything we required and there were never any concerns about having a child with us. The hotel is the neither too big or too small so you do not feel like you are causing a nuisance to other guests when your child starts making a fuss. We would thoroughly recommend the hotel to anyone travelling with young children. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: 5, Food: 4 for the garden house, 5 for the main restaurant, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 4, Sleep quality: 5. Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes

RS 07/17

Hi Henrik, Many thanks for your email. Re Monnaber Nou – I think that overall it was a beautiful rural location, with good facilities ie spa, swimming pool etc but quite old fashioned and largely set up to cater for the Germans. With regard to marks 1-5, Service – 4, Food – 3, Cleanliness- 4, Value for money – 3, Sleep quality – 4. Because there is a lot of competition in the Agro-tourism market, I am not sure that I would recommend Monnaber Nou – as to me this hotel could be really fantastic, but it has clearly been run on traditional lines now for many years and will only change if the management of the hotel changes. They have relied on a steady supply of cyclists and German tourists who clearly like it for what it is – but we found the breakfast choice to be repetitive and uninspiring, the complimentary toiletries in the bathroom to be the cheapest and low grade that we have ever come across etc. However, it does have a rustic charm which is hard to dislike, and the ambiance is so laid back it is positively horizontal – which depending on your disposition is probably a good thing. So overall our experience was definitely more on the rustic side of rustic chic! Hope that helps, Best,

PN 05/17

All went well, the hotel was very well signposted from all directions. my rating is as follows It was a very good hotel, well appointed and the staff were excellent in their attentions. The food was very good but lacking daily variety in the menu - same choices for the four nights we were there. All round: it was a good decision to stay there. Service: 4, Food: 4, Cleanliness: 4, Value for Money: 4, Sleep Quality: 4 Would I recommend a friend? I already have done. Brgds

CH 01/17

Henrik – Thank you, we did have a good holiday. Yes we would certainly recommend Monnaber Nou to a friend, but only if they wanted a quiet rural location. The hotel & annexe (in which we stayed) were beautifully presented, the spa looked nice although we didn’t use it, & and the restaurant with its balcony overlooking the garden & countryside was absolutely first class with a constantly changing table d’hote & a very wide choice of a la carte. A car is essential though, given the rural location. We would rate Monnaber Nou as follows: Service 4, Food 5, Cleanliness 5, Value for money 4, Sleep Quality 3 (Beds rather harder than we prefer). Best regards

Hi Henrik, We had a fabulous time thanks! Monnaber Nou is a beautiful hotel set in stunning surroundings. It's a fab location for a relaxing break where you can recharge your batteries in the countryside. The pool is great and surprisingly child friendly and children will love the many animals around the site - horses, sheep, cats, pigs, deer and peacocks to name but a few! How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 3/4 Food: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 3 Sleep quality: 5 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes Thanks for helping us organise another lovely break.

AL 09/16

This is going to sound strange but we've stopped in other hotels with better service, better food and probably better value for money but  the overall effect of this hotel entranced our group. We all loved it and will definitely return next year. It felt a perfect mix of a place to stay away from the crowded coastal resorts with the peace of the countryside and a charming old Mallorca building.  The staff were great. They were not always around but this is an indication of the relaxed pace of the place.  Please pass on our thanks

Hi Henrik, Please see below my comments on your email.  What a fabulous hotel and holiday – we so enjoyed it, and will definitely be going back to Monnaber Nou. Warm regards

Thanks Henrik, we had a wonderful stay in Monnaber Nou. I would rate it 5/5 for everything. Yes I would recommend it and would hope to return. The  Monnaber  Nou is a traditional  finca style hotel set in the beautiful Mallorcan country side with fabulous walks. We enjoyed a comfortable room in the Garden House and had a wonderful breakfast in its courtyard. An special highlight was an amazing dinner in the terrace Restaurant over looking the valley.  Great. Hoping to return to Mallorca early next year so I will be in touch again

Dear Henrik, We have had a Wonderful holiday it has all been a great success.  As far as the hotels go Monnaber Nou food 3 cleanliness 4 value for money 3 sleep quality 4 . Can Canals gets 5 for everything it was so much nicer mainly because the staff were so friendly charming and helpful and the grounds much better tended also the breakfast was fantastic. We would certainly return to this hotel although both were well positioned for exploring.  We had a great time, thank you for you organisation. Yours

Thanks Henrik! I have to say that you have been particularly helpful so would recommend without hesitation!! I am back to work, sadly, after a lovely holiday - but I will find some time at some point to feed back to you. All best,

Hi Henrik, Just wanted to say thank you for organising our hotel stays.  We had a fabulous time in Mallorca, fell in love with it as an island and will definitely be booking another holiday with you in the future. I mainly wanted to express our thanks for a lovely holiday. Kind regard

Hi Henrik, Monnaber Nou was better than expectations. We loved it. We stayed in the Garden House. It was easy to be able to relax and look out for the kids at the same time. The kids loved the pool and met other kids to play with. They enjoyed exploring, seeing the animals, playing tennis and going up to the main house to use the pools and spa pool there. The rooms are spacious. The breakfast is amazing and was included in the price we paid - so was well worth it. We generally went out to eat at other times. Everyone was very friendly and we would love to go back. It is a real escape and you really feel like you have had a proper holiday and relaxation. Thank you Henrik for suggesting this and booking this for us. We would definitely book through you again - you are so patient and make it all so easy. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 5, Food: 5, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 5, Sleep quality:5, Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Definitely. Kind regards

Hi Henrik, Thank you very much, once again, for organising our stay.  You made it very easy for us and we went to many of the places recommended in your guide. The setting was beautiful, the pools were lovely and the fact that we could open our doors almost straight onto the pool side made it a children’s paradise, along with the availability of snacks and ice creams to fuel their fun. There were enough people there to make it fun, but not too many to spoil the idyllic setting. The poor staff appeared to be run ragged and were rarely to be seen.  They really could do with an extra hand or two. The food was fairly average, although we didn’t eat at the main house, which was amazing, we were told by all who did.  The bbq, however, left vast room for improvement. Service: 2, Food: 3, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 4, Sleep quality: 5. Would you recommend the hotel to a friend?  Yes. Kind regards

Hi Henrik. A lovely stay at Monnaber Nou thank you.  I would rate everything as 5 out of 5 with the exception of our apartment...we found it all a bit dark, tired and in need of a freshen up.  The bathroom was particularly shabby and the shower was very poor.  We did not have a view of any sort, quite disappointing we would make a different room choice if we return to Monnaber.  However all of that said we loved everything else and would recommend it to friends. Many thanks for your assistance and advice, it was much appreciated. Kind regards

LP 07/16

Dear Henrik, Firstly thank you we did indeed have a wonderful holiday, and you were right the hotel is a little tired but definitely one up from the Marivent. The view is stunning, and our room was actually perfect for the 3 of us and even though my son is nearly 6 foot the bed was very comfortable for him......but when it is 30  degrees and very hot the air con needs to function in a much better fashion needs to be upgraded!!!All the staff were very friendly and Leo at the pool bar was excellent.  Our room was cleaned to a very high standard every day and we really did have a very restful time. Service I would give 3.5 as never enough staff at breakfast time Food  very good indeed 4 Cleanliness 5 Value for money...3.5  only because its in need of some attention and maybe its expensive for what it is Sleep quality 4  This is not in any way supposed to be negative we did have a great time and went to Pollensa from there and our wonderful boat trip from Port de Soller.  We visited Bar Nou which you recommended which was fabulous. I would definitely recommend it to a friend but with warnings that the star rating is quite generous......but we had a wonderful time so thank you for your help in booking it all. Regards

Hi Hendrik, Hope you are well. We had a wonderful holiday at Monnaber Nou - we explored every corner of Northern Majorca - I feel I am now an expert....ish! Thank you for organising our wonderful room -  it was spotlessly clean & the housekeepers were so jolly! Definitely 5 for cleanliness.  Sleep quality - 4 - bed comfortable but pillows very thick or very thin!!  Super quiet with just the crickets & gorgeous sheep to listen too. Food was a 4 - the menu is very dated but definitely would appeal to the older generation.  Breakfast was a little disappointing.  Gloopy scrambled egg & processed pastries.  Bread was good on the last day. Value for money was a 4.  I did comment to the lovely lady on reception when paying that the restaurant is seriously under staffed - if it wasn't for the lovely smiley Nic & one other smiley waiter breakfasts would have been a solemn affair.  Huge shout out for the lovely Pep on reception - so helpful & friendly. Thank you again Hendrik - we will be back in touch next summer.  We loved Pollenca. Kind regards

Dear Henrik, Sorry for the delay in replying. We had a great stay at Monnaber Nou. The room was very good, spacious and with a very useful little kitchen area. The room was very well serviced every day. The pool is very pleasant and the surroundings are lovely. We know this area of Majorca well, having visited several times over the years. The hotel is within easy reach of Pollenca and the surrounding towns and beaches, but its quiet, secluded location gives you the best of both worlds. Although the restaurant is beautifully situated, the evening meal choice was disappointing and rather expensive for what it was. The breakast was very good, but at busy times the staff were somewhat overwhelmed. This did not detract from the enjoyment of our stay and we would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel. Service 4, Food 3, Cleanliness 5, Value for money 4, Sleep Quality 5. Should we be off to Majorca again ,we shall be in touch with Rural Hotels. Thank you, Regards

Dear Henrick, Thank you for your email and your help arranging our holiday. We really enjoyed it. Lovely setting and grounds. Overall very quiet and peaceful. Will need your own transport. Very nice pool which was very clean and well kept. The evening BBQ was good but otherwise the food was not very inspiring. Breakfast very much based on cold meats and cheeses options. However nearby towns have good local restaurants. Overall a very enjoyable stay and good value for money. We have now discussed going to Menorca on another occasion so will let you know if we decide to do this. Dear Henrik, Sorry for the delay in getting back to you. We had a fantastic time at the Monnaber Nou. We booked a standard room in the Garden House which is about 10-minute walk away from the main building. The pool area is very nice but we preferred it at the main building where it is a bit larger. Lunches by the pool were very tasty and the evening meals at the restaurant were excellent and in a lovely setting with great views. Monnaber Nou is located about a 20-minute car ride to Alcudia/Port de Pollenca too, so hiring a car is advisable for day trips and to stock up at the supermarket.  We got back completely relaxed but wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back at some point in the future. We can both highly recommend this Finca to anyone who seeks peace and quiet away from the more commercial resorts. Please see below the ratings. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 5 Food: 5 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 5 Sleep quality:3 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? yes Kind regards,

Hi Henrik,  Yes we had a wonderful holiday thank you. I think our ratings would be as follows: Service 5, Food 3, Cleanliness 5, Value for money 5, Sleep Quality 4. We would and have recommended the hotel to friends and hope to return. The lower scores were due to the disappointing food at the garden house, and sadly the very uncomfortable beds! In all other respects the holiday was excellent. We would love to hear about similar hotels for future trips. Best wishes

Hi Henrik, Thank you for the email - and the print about Menorca! Next time! Monnaber Nou is a beautiful hotel in a great location, away from it all but near enough to find plenty to do if relaxing by the lovely pool and eating delicious food isn't your thing. Great for families; friendly, helpful staff and plenty of animal friends for the children. Hi Henrik, Thank you for your mail. Apart from some rather poor weather it was a lovely break. A couple of things is location was excellent as motorway access is brilliant and perfect for whizzing around the island. There are no balcony’s or terraces unless you specify. With terrace; is directly under the restaurant and whilst you will not here any noise in the room the scraping of chairs from time to time is unavoidable. It was not a problem for us. Very nice views and animal noise from peacocks, cockerels, goats and sheep were a joy. Even so it is a very tranquil setting and a joy to behold. Service:5, Food:5, Cleanliness: 5, Value for money: 5, Sleep quality: 5 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? - Yes. Kind regards

Hi Henrik, Just a quick note to say a big thank you for organising our stay at the Monnaber Nou. We were delighted with the hotel, and with our room. The hotel were aware that we needed a ground floor room because of my husband's broken ankle. The bathroom was huge, with a massive walk-in shower and stool so that made life much easier for him. The room itself was large and really comfortable. Unfortunately the weather was not warm but the heating was on in our room which made it really cosy. The restaurant was superb; we had breakfast both mornings and dinner one evening, which was excellent. The staff were very helpful and friendly too. My daughter is having her marriage blessing at our villa in Pollenca next June (hopefully the builders will be finished by then!) so I have asked her to pass your details to guests coming over for the blessing. I'm sure you can help many of her guests find a lovely hotel for their stay. Thanks again. Excellent service, and I shall recommend you to others. Best wishes,

Dear Henrik, We really want to thank you for recommending this heavenly hotel. The location, the space, the quiet, the architecture, the sheep and other animals, everything was perfect. The staff were very friendly and we enjoyed having our own apartment so we could sometimes eat our own cooked food. (Although the kitchen equipment was rather basic. I never realised how essential was a vegetable peeler: I had to peel a courgette with the bread knife!) The Christmas meal was very good, and we appreciated the lack of fuss in the decor and not too many carols played! We loved the island, keeping to the interior and avoiding the seaside resorts. It was wonderful to escape the hectic English Christmas, it was definitely the season to come to Majorca as everything was so quiet and empty of people, just what we like. If I have my way, we shall be back! Many thanks again, and happy New Year

Hi Henrik, We had a fabulous holiday thank you. The Hotel Can Reus was lovely as was the village and the great restaurants. I think it deserves scores of 5 for all categories apart from quality of sleep. We slept with the windows open and were disturbed by early morning noise from the house next door. Next time we will use the aircon and keep the windows closed! The second hotel, Monnaber Nou, was good (scores of 4) with really excellent food (score 5) in a beautiful setting. We would be happy to recommend both hotels and also your services which were excellent. We will be back at some point! Many thanks,

Dear Henrik, We had a brilliant week in Mallorca. Many thanks for your help with choice of different hotels and recommendations. The info really helped with deciding how to spend our time and where to go. Hired a car at the Airport.  A map with your recommendations highlighted, geographically, would be a useful addition to the info you provided. Monnaber Nou, Beautiful location, didn’t start well at Reception though....cool reception, professional but not very friendly. Shown to room next to the Bike shed! Not impressed. Specially as we had specifically requested and paid more for a room within the main house. After returning to reception we were initially told that the main house was fully booked, then reluctantly shown a room on the top floor with front view, through small window, which we accepted. Room was dark, but very nicely furnished with lovely en-suite. No complimentary drinks/water in room. Ate in beautiful Restaurant which had gorgeous views, dinner good. Breakfast ok – not so keen on Buffet style. Pool very cold but pool staff pleasant; bar food at pool, satisfactory. Next day change of receptionist, Cati, who was extremely pleasant and helpful re restaurant booking and directions. Went to Cap Formentor and restaurant “Bar Nou” at Pollenca – your recommendationss – both excellent, though Cap Formentor trip( fabulous coastal views) was very busy/ long queue on road to car park. Had great Paella at Bar Nou. Loved Pollenca, especially the open air market on Sunday morning. Overall  rating 3.5. Mainly because of traumatic start to our stay and the contrast with the warmth and attention of service at Ca’s Sant. Also being most expensive, our expectations were higher. Would recommend but with reservations. Ca’s  Sant was wonderful! Beautiful Finca.  Lovely room, antique furniture, very clean; Complimentary tea, coffee and bottled water in room was much appreciated. Service excellent, Wonderful breakfast well worth the 14 euros and the marmalade, made on site, was to die for....brought some home. Slept very well.....enjoyed the pleasant walk into Soller, which we loved, especially watching the world go by, with a glass of vino, sitting at one of the cafes in the square. Also enjoyed trips to Deia, Valdemossa and Fornalutz- beautiful and interesting. Amazing scenery and architecture. Went to the Restaurant “Es Faro” at your recommendation, quite pricey, but had a fabulous meal –very attentive staff – amazing views over Puerto Soller. Certainly a highlight of our week. Overall rating 5. Would recommend highly, to a friend. Sa Carrotja. Initially not so enchanted by  the area, probably because it is so much flatter, but first impression was of a lovely Finca. Not so keen on modern style of decor/furniture. Had to wait 10 mins for someone to greet us on arrival but nice reception when they came, some communication difficulties. Pleasant room. No complimentary drinks/bottled water in room. Slept well, shower, ok. Breakfast OK, again Buffet style. Dinner optional. We ate out and really enjoyed your recommendation of restaurant Es Farinera – fabulous food. Also loved your recommendation of the little harbour and boardwalk at Porto-Petro? Went to Beach Es Trenc, was lovely, 4 euros for admission to park. Very, very busy even at 5pm in the evening. Spent a lovely relaxing day, sunbathing and swimming at the pool, which was marvellous. Overall rating 4. Would recommend.   Overall, we had a fabulous week and definitely want to return to Mallorca as soon as possible. Thanks again, Kind regards,

Hi Henrik, Yes we had a wonderful time at Monnaber Nou thank you for asking. It has a real sense of peace about it that was evident from the moment we arrived. Monnaber Nou is really something quite special, from the moment we arrived we just felt at peace - another guest referred to it as an "oasis of calm"           which pretty well sums it up for me. The location is beautiful and the scale of the hotel is just perfect, we spent many a day just relaxing by the pool. It         never felt busy or rushed the whole time we were there despite there being a full house. I can't really fault it we will be staying there again, enough said! As for ratings: Service - 5 Food - 4 Cleanliness - 5 Value for money - 5 Sleep quality - 3 - I felt the beds could do with an upgrade I found mine very uncomfortable to start with but got used to it as time went on. I'm used to a     very high quality mattress at home so perhaps I am not the best/most impartial judge of this one. I would recommend the hotel to anyone without reservation. Thanks again Henrik.

Hello Henrik, Sorry for my very late reply... We just got caught up with so many things after our holiday and the start of school year!  We've had a very enjoyable stay at Monnaber Nou in Mallorca. The hotel facilities are amazing, the charm of the place is so unique as it has kept so many original features. The property is very well looked after, sitting rooms, beautiful gardens, large pools... and the charm of a working farm is very pleasant! We realised that the annex house offers more basic facilities than the main hotel, but with 2 young children who needed to run a bit around, it was actually perfect. I guess the annex shouldn't be rated 4 stars...  If we have to rate the points you've highlighted, our review would be (/5 basis):  Service: 3/5 Food: 4/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value for money: 4/5 Sleep quality:4/5 The annex house is probably lacking a couple staff at breakfast time and during the day. Breakfast was very often rather chaotic, missing cuttlery, plates, glasses as a lot of tables hadn't been cleared up, and generally it was missing a certain touch that 4 star hotels offer: for instance, fruits not prepared: melon/watermelon roughly cut, still with skin on, scrambled eggs were rather unappetizing and dry, etc.  During the day, it was sometimes hard to find staff at reception... but in a way, it gave a more relaxed atmosphere like in a private house! The room was very clean and comfortable, the housekeepers very efficient and friendly every day. A note though on the small kitchenette which would have been a bit more convenient with a microwave as we chose this option to facilitate our stay with 2 small children (warming up milk bottles for instance), and also was looking rather recycled from another place as the cupbaords didn't really fit properly and were a bit run down.  With regards to the restaurants, we had 2 dinners at the main restaurant and 1 dinner at the grill. Both were very pleasant (amazing view from the terrace) and the food of high quality and nicely presented. We would have hoped to find more Spanish dishes on the menu though, and the service was sometimes a bit chaotic, for example, the first evening, we realised that the starters didn't exactly match the description on the menu, and this was confirmed as the waiter came back 5 mns later saying they had made a mistake and served us the order for another table! On a global note, this place is very nice, and should we decide to go back to Mallorca, we would probably return to Monnaber! We would like to thank you also for your help organising our stay, and we will definately look at your services again for another trip (Tuscany maybe!)!  Kind regards,

Dear Henrik, Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you.  Our holiday in Majorca was lovely thank you. The Monnaber Nou was lovely and rural and the swimming pool in the main hotel was great for our teenagers as it was quite big and had separate sections, some which were heated including an outdoor jacuzzi.  We didn't eat dinner in the main restaurant but we did eat at the hotel's other location where the food was cooked on at outdoor bbq grill.  That was ok and reasonably priced.  We did need to use our car a lot due to the very rural location but we expected that and were happy to do so.   The Can Verdera was absolutely beautiful and furnished likewise.  This was more of a luxurious hotel and really you couldn't fault anything.  Obviously it was quite a bit more expensive but certainly worth it.  The location was perfect too, being in such a beautiful location. We Just loved Fornaltux and would like to stay there again in the future.  The views from the pool and the outdoor terrace were just amazing and it was so peaceful there. Your recommendation suggesting two locations was such a good idea and we loved being in two different places and very different styled hotels. Thank you so much. We would definitely recommend these hotels to a friend.  We would also definitely recommend you as you were very knowledgable and honest about the hotels and location and helped us plan a lovely holiday. Also thank you for your efficiency in sorting it all out and confirming things so efficiently.  We really appreciated it. We have put our ratings below: You can use any of these comments on your website.   Kind regards

Hi Henrik, We enjoyed our stay at Monnaber Nou and we were sad to leave especially given how much fun we had at the pool, and we would be interested in similar hotels in Menorca/Mallorca for next year.  We had a few niggles to start but these were cleared up quickly. We had booked a room in the annex down the road from the main hotel but when we arrived we were told it was full and would have a room in the main house. We were shown a room down the side of the hotel with no view just a very tall hedge and next to the outside smoking staff area, not a good start. We asked if there were other rooms available as it wasn't really what we had booked or expected. We were then offered a suite still in the main house for the price of a standard room. Great! no balcony but two big rooms. However, when we went in the room it was reeking of cigarette smoke and we found a cigarette end on the floor in the corner of the room, not good. The receptionist was horrified and said the room would be given a thorough clean the following day. The bathroom and beds were spotless but the floor still remained uncleaned. It was carpeted and needed a good vacuum but had only been swept with a brush.  That aside and the fact the hotel lent the bike Paul had hired to someone else, complete with Paul's pedals and garmin computer attached that he had previously got ready to go cycling. The girls loved the pool, the service from the cafe/bar by the pool was exceptional.  Service: 4 (very slow in the restaurant on the first night, waiting about 20mins before someone even brought menus and it wasn't busy, poolside bar service 5/5) Food: 4 Cleanliness 1 Value for money 4 Sleep Quality 3 I would recommend for the location and rural experience of the hotel, I wouldn't recommend if particularly fussy about cleanliness.  Many thanks,

Good afternoon Henrik, Yes, we had a great time at the Monnaber Nou, we even recommanded it to our friends who needed a nice and quiet hotel for 2 nights this summer. The location is superb, with amazing views on the country side, the mountains, and the olives/fruit trees plantations, specially from the restaurant (from breakfast to dinner). It’s the perfect place to relax, nice swimming pool, and cosy spa. With varieties of safe walks around specially for the kids. We had hire some bikes and went visiting the country side toward a nice village Pollerca. The only down side was the poor quality of the bikes, we had to wait for some repairs before going, and for family with younger kids not very practical, (our’s is 11 year old, and it was just ok regarding the height of the bike) it’s a pity they couldn’t provide smaller bike. Service: 4/5 Food: 3/5 Cleanliness: 5/5 Value for money: 4/5 Sleep quality:5/5 The restaurant is correct but not great, there is room for improvement with a lack of Mallorcan "gastronomie", we went twice to the Monnaber Vell Hotel very close to the Monnaber Nou, and the food was delicious and far better there. The breakfast was missing authentic spanish food, poor quality bread, no variety for teas. Otherwise, we will be happy to come back and explore more by foot or bike the country side. Thanks!

Hi Hendrik, We had a wonderful stay at Can Verdera. Beautiful hotel with gorgeous location and great service. We would definitely stay there again. My only comment would be to get a garden room next time as the double rooms do not allow much natural light especially at street level. We had several great walks from here so it was well located in the Soller valley. Thanks for suggesting it. Best

Hi Henrik, Thanks for getting in touch. We had a lovely stay in Monnaber Nou. I would rate everything as 5 except for service and value for money where I would give 4. The reason for the 4s is that the cot we had booked wasn't available when we arrived and we had to follow up several times before we got one on the second day. So I was slightly disappointed to be charged the full price for the night where the number of beds in the apartment was less than we needed. Other than that the service was excellent and very friendly, especially with our small children.  Could I ask you for some suggestions for next year? We like Mallorca but are also open to Menorca or Tuscany. We'd like something family friendly with space for 3 small children (ideally an apartment but possibly adjoining rooms). We can be flexible on location. What would you recommend?  Thanks

Henrik, We enjoyed our stay at Monnaber Nou. We did actual upgrade to a room in the main house, for a better view. Service  5 Food  5 Cleanliness  5 Value for money 4 Sleep Quality 5 Regards

Good morning Henrik, Thank you for your message. You beat me to it !!! It was my intention to write to you but I've been on the move ever since we came back and have only just come to rest !!! Your recommendation for Monnabernou suited us down to the ground. For people of our age ( 78), well travelled, not looking for glamour, for the " modern" conception of luxury ( marble palace, chic cocktail bar etc ), night life, " holiday socialization", shops on the doorstep, it was perfect. The buildings have been sensitively adapted so that one has almost the impression of being a guest on an old fashioned country estate. The location is stunning. The views magnificent wherever you are from within and outside the building. There are innumerable secluded areas in and outside for guests to spend time during the day in complete privacy. Our suite ( 11) on the top floor was comfortable. If we go back we would make a sacrifice on the view and ask for the suite (?6) on the first floor. The catering was first class which was a pleasant surprise. My memories of Mallorcan cuisine were quite different.  Driving on the back road to Pollenza was a pleasure we did not tire of... It is Mallorca as I first experienced it in the nineteen sixties. There are few tourist areas you can say that about.  In response to your specific questions  Service 5 plus  Food 5 Cleanliness 5 with the proviso that this is not a new hotel with spanking new linen, carpets and furniture and the latest sanitary fittings. Sleep quality. 5 Value for money. I've no idea !!! I'm not a professional traveller ... What we are looking for is not related to pounds and pence ... Quality of total experience is what we measure our holidays by and Monnabernou and Mallorca combined late June with few children fitted our bill to a T. I hope that's helpful and if you think we can add something more please don't hesitate to get in touch. We will certainly contact you again if ever we plan to visit the areas you cover.

Dear Henrik, Yes we had a very nice holiday, indeed, and the wee one, my granddaughter, especially enjoyed the beach until she got a bee sting but all ended well. I would reply to your questions in the following way: - A. Service : was excellent. B. The food was very good but the one tiny criticism I would offer the hotel is the need for a better range of food for vegetarians as the menu choice was very limited. However, set against that the waiter did advise us that the chef would prepare most vegetarian dishes we would ask for always provided that the basic ingredients were available and in season. C. the cleanliness was also excellent. D. the hotel was very good value for money. E. The nights were quiet when one got used to the little external air conditioner which kicked into action at intervals. F. I would be happy to recommend the hotel to my friends. The hotel was discreet and very well managed. The rooms were very comfortable if a little dated, not shabby I may add, just a little demode. The dining terraces and facilities were elegant and the food was very well prepared and professionally served. The ambience, in other words, was excellent and the dining terrace looked out over the magnificent landscape leaving one to wonder just how lovely all that was. The swimming pool arrangements were ideal for adults and children alike and the pool bar service prompt and courteous, but, beyond the pool, we had no time to enjoy the many other attractive activities such as horse riding, massage, etc. but perhaps on another vacation we can avail ourselves of these additional little luxuries. While the hotel was very easy to get to from the airport the final stretch of road leading from the main highway to the Finca was a wee bit tortuous but I conquered that by “ shutting my eyes when going round the difficult curves and narrow stretches

4 for everything except food which I would rate 3. Quite laid back which suited us but I would recommend with provisos. We enjoyed it very much. Kind regards

Hi Henrik, The hotel was set in a lovely location, the breakfast was very good (but the service was poor at breakfast, we were waiting 10 minutes for someone to ask whether we wanted tea or coffee etc.), the pool area was ideal for families and children, the meals were nice (although we had room service when eating at the hotel on an evening as we were unsure how child friendly the restaurant would be). How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 2/3 - this was variable and experience was that I would have expected the staff to be more attentive;  Food: 4 - this was very good Cleanliness: 3 - this was OK but again would have expected more - cleaners did not clean thoroughly (terrace was not swept whilst we were there, washing up was left, no more than a 5 minute clean by them each day) Value for money: 3 - It was a nice place but we paid for this; it could have been really nice if the staff were more attentive (providing information about area; what to do with children; asked if you wanted drinks if sat by pool etc) Sleep quality: 4 - very peaceful and changed cot for our young daughter when asked Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? I would Regards

Hi Henrik, Just a quick note to say a big thank you for arranging our accommodation at the Hotel Monnaber Nou in Campanet.  We have had a wonderful time - it is so peaceful and it was lovely to be woken by the sheeps' bells and the gaggling geese.  What a gem!  The chef catered for my gluten free diet superbly - nowhere have I been offered a gluten free Danish pasty, but they brought one to my table at breakfast and it was delicious.  The staff were very helpful and friendly.  It is a perfect place to unwind and get away from it all. We will definitely be returning.  Thanks a lot for your help, at such short notice too. I'll be in touch soon to arrange another trip. Kind regards

GH 09/14

Dear Henrik, Apologies for delay in replying to your email. We had a great holiday! All too short! Thanks for all your help with organising everything at short notice. Below are my comments on the Monnaber Nou hotel. You will see that the main issue was with the restaurant. It does sound a bit negative, but we felt that it was the bit that let the hotel down for us – as we were not looking for a romantic candlelit dinner each night. Monnaber Nou Hotel: Service – excellent in the bar area especially. Food: bar area great fresh orange juice, cocktails and snacks and closes at 7pm so its possible to have dinner here if you want to avoid the restaurante.  Hotel restaurant – great for a special dinner, but we thought the menu was too fancy and I think overpriced for every night.  One example was soup – my daughter ordered this. She received a large plate with some vegetables scattered on it, accompanied by a very small jug of soup which the waiter poured over the vegetables (with a flourish). There was barely enough soup to cover the bottom of the dish! After the second night we opted to head elsewhere for our evening dinner. We had a car though, and I know some guests did not. Cleanliness: very clean, and lots of space in our room. Value for money: apart from the restaurant, the rooms were great, the grounds were fabulous, the pool area was really nice. Sleep quality: top marks, comfy and quiet with A/c in the room if it was too hot. I would recommend to a friend with the caveat that they should definitely have their own car and try out some of the really great places to eat in the surrounding villages. Yours

Hi Henrik It was way back in July /August that I booked these trips with you and I'm so very sorry it's taken so long to reply. Life is soooo busy!  We thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Mallorca And I put this almost entirely down to the choice of places that we booked through working with you Henrik. From the very first phone call which i made on a Sunday morning (and hugely surprised to actually get to talk to a real live person!) and thoughout the booking process, Henrik really listened and took the time to understand our needs . It really felt more like talking to a friend! On arrival at both of our rural retreats they completely surpassed out expectations! They were exactly as Henrik described them and more! Crucially ... It is clear that Henrik has actually visited and stayed in these places and so speaks roar on first hand experience. We wee looking for a 5 night girls holiday combining relaxation with village experience . Henriks suggestion of monnaber nou spa and then can Reus was spot on! It's hard to say which one we enjoyed the most as they we both wonderful places with very high standards of everything whilst maintaining that crucial feeling of a true Rural retreat! in the second place we stayed, can Reus, we met two other English girls who we got on really well with. We found out thy they too had booked through HEnrik at rural retreats and we were all agreeing that he was amazing ! A true professional who clearly puts the customer experience at the heart of what he does. I enclose a photo of the friends we made (rural retreat customers) ... And look forward to booking our reunion rural retreat through Henrik next year! Kind Regards

Monnaber nou spa... Fantastic place. I would strongly advise staying in the main house rather than the garden rooms. The facilities are great .. Perfect place to relax. the rooms are lovely. restaurant is slightly pricey but definitely worth it ... The sea food and suckling pig we had was amazing . Top thing to do..... Relaxing with glass of wine on front terrace star gazing... Listening to the tinkling of goat bells .

Hi Henrik, We had a lovely holiday thank you.  Please see below our ratings and comments as per your email.   How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:  Service: 4 Food: 3 Cleanliness: 4 Value for money: 4 Sleep quality:3 Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Yes Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay? The setting is just lovely.  The staff were very friendly and helpful and wanted to make our stay as comfortable as possible.  The main house is the best part of the complex as it is more refined, better equipped and the service is better.  The other coach house is a little more dated and the service is not so good.  The main pool area at the main house is just lovely but would also benefit from a little TLC.  We had a really fun time horse riding and the whole place welcomes and caters for children very well.  Overall a nice stay. Thanks for your help.  It was great.

Hi Henrik, We had a great holiday thank you - wish it had been 2 weeks. Service: 4 Food: 4 Cleanliness: 3 Value for money: 4 Sleep quality: 2/3 noise travelled through rooms at side /above and also people not considerate when outside room talking loudly. Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? yes Would you like to write a couple of general sentences about your stay? Fabulous -  quiet rural setting, great leisure options, definitely need a car, would prefer a more varied menu.

Hi Henrik, Hope you're well .Yes we did have a sticky start to say the least .However the tw o rooms were a great improvement .the hotel was everything you described .The staff were delightful , the facilities were excellent and situation truly stunning .However the food did not improve ! One example I'll give you .Dominic asked for gazpacho one day They said it needed a few days notice  no problem .When it finally arrived I tasted it and unbelievably thought it tasted of fish .Everyone agreed including bar waiter .He went to 'chef' who said yes he had used a fish base ! Don't know whether you've ever heard of that .Fortunately none of us had fish allergies but to say it tasted disgusting is an understatement .The evening menu was long and we felt over complicated . Graeme did mention to Miranda front of house and marketing lady that we felt the food let the hotel down .Such a shame . Breakfasts were good and lunch snacks perfectly acceptable but not so the evening meals ! Hope this input is constructive and not overly critical

Hi Henrik, Yes we had a lovely time, the service was great, as was the food, cleanliness very good, although the pool needed a bit of a clean, but I assume that was to do with the bad weather we had the first two days.  I think it was value for money both the accommodation and the food and drink and the place is so peaceful you cannot do anything else but sleep The general consensus is the place is beautiful and the say was memorable and we will, and have recommended it to friends.  We would return however with so many beautiful places on the island it may be a while as there is so much to explore.  Considering we had a yacht in Palma for 5 years and have been going out to the island for over 10 years, sometimes many times a year, there is still something to see and be surprised by. We will be in touch later in the year when we next visit (hopefully sooner rather than later) and try something else you have to offer Kind regards

We had excellent service from the hotel staff.  The noise did carry between the rooms - we were disturbed quite late by people having a party in the next room.  That was the only issue, apart from the  poor quality of the riding gear.  In fact the riding was quite nerve racking in parts.  He was a nice guy - Juan, but did not quite have enough control i felt.  also i fell from my horse, because it stumbled on a cobble and he didn't mention it to the reception. However, i was not injured.  also the transfer from the airport was too expensive.  they charged E70 when it said E55 on the taxi meter. The breakfast was wonderful, but the dinner was too fancy and rich, and expensive, for us.  We wanted something plainer and more reasonably priced in the evening. It was a magical place, with all sorts of animals roaming around.  I would recommend it to a friend. Regards,

Hello Henrik, I was going to write to you to let you know how much we loved Monnaber Nou.  We stayed in the Garden House and the whole thing was absolutely perfect.  The restaurant was extremely good, the breakfasts all anyone could ever want, the service was friendly and efficient.  Everything was clean and attractive - the beds were a little bit hard for me but that's being really nit-picky!  I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to friends - in fact, I already have!  I had a lovely ride into the hills from the stables at the end of the drive and we played tennis on the very good court (the other one looks as if it needs resurfacing) - and we had the added bonus of the Estate's tame fallow deer joining us on court!  We didn't get round to trying the bikes - maybe next time! I was so pleased that all the hotels we tried in Puerto Pollensa were full!  It was a great place to visit and meet up with all our friends, but we loved our secret retreat in the countryside! All in all, we had a wonderful week and wouldn't hesitate to return to Monnaber Nou.  Thank you so much for all your help and advice. With kind regards,

Hi Henrik, Firstly I apologise for not responding to you sooner. I’m afraid I completely overlooked it. Overall we had a fantastic time. Both hotels were wonderful and we had a terrific holiday. We are very grateful for your help in finding us two wonderful places to stay in. Monnaber Nou was a different experience altogether. I would suggest some strong air-conditioning in the fitness room would be a good improvement to make. How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating: Service: 4 Food: 4 Cleanliness: 5 Value for money: 4 Sleep quality: 5 Thank you once again,

Monaber Nou was breathtakingly good. We were upgraded from garden house as someone had cancelled for room in main house. Food was glorious and inventive, wine good and not excessively priced. Service was brilliant without being obsequious. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel or stay there again. Overall a great break with no regrets for using a completely random choice for a last minute booking.Regards

Dear Henrik Thank you for your email and apologies for the delay in replying. We enjoyed our holiday at Monnaber Nou. Service: The staff at the Garden House and at the pool at the main hotel were very efficient and polite and spoke excellent English (along with several other languages it seemed). Rating 5 Food: The breakfast was very good, and we had a pleasant supper at the pool-side BBQ. Rating 4 Cleanliness: The cleanliness of the apartment was good. Rating 4 Value for money: We found the apartment rather more basic than we had expected for the price paid. Rating 3 Sleep quality: The beds and bed linen were comfortable. Although only two of the rooms had air conditioning, we were not too hot when we stayed in September. It was extremely quiet and peaceful when we were there. Rating 3 We would recommend the hotel to a friend as long as they are prepared to drive. Otherwise, it would be a bit remote. We liked Mallorca very much, particularly the beaches. We visited a number of restaurants, all of which were enjoyable with good service and good value. The only aspect of our holiday which was not satisfactory was car hire (not arranged through you). We used a company called Goldcar and although the vehicle itself was good, their customer service was appalling. I hope these comments are useful. We would recommend Rural Hotels Mallorca! Yours sincerely,

Hi Henrik We are back home from Mallorca and are very pleased with our trip. Here is some feedback about Monnaber Nou… Positive: Charming, genuine and beautiful Good service Good pool area Good location (made excursions to Formentor, Puerto Pollenca and Alcudia) Less good: WiFi did not work very well in the rooms The Suite is a bit small for two extra beds We will definitely get back to you the next time we come to Mallorca and try another one of your hotels! Kind regards,

Dear Henrik, Thanks so much for your help with our holiday in Mallorca. The hotels you suggested were exactly what I was looking for. The two days at Monnaber Nou were a very relaxing start to the holiday. The main reason we wouldn’t want to stay at Monnaber Nou much longer was that the food in the restaurant was very rich and quite expensive, so with no other options, we started to feel very fat after a couple of days. However, it was the perfect place to completely unwind at the start of the holiday. The staff were all delightful – so friendly and welcoming. We spent most of our time relaxing by the pool, which was lovely. The only thing I would really recommend they improve is the quality of the toiletries in the bathrooms: there wasn’t much shampoo & soap & it wasn’t very nice. This is a minor detail but for the price it could be better, as although I travel with most of what I need, in Europe I try to carry as little liquid as possible. Our room was very spacious and comfortable. Answers to your questions below. Thanks again, Nikki

Dear Henrik, We loved our stay, enjoyed especially the silence and environement. The rooms are a bit old fashion and also the furniture of the outdoor swimmingpool needs to be replaced but this didn’t disturb us to much. The food was very nice, also the view from the terrace. Sorry that the didn’t serve us fresh orangejus in an area were you see hunderds of orange trees!!! The price is a bit high, but this kind of accomodations are rare in Mallorca, so we understoot why the rates are rather high. Loved it anyhow. Greetings
