Cycling Mallorca: Parque de SAlbufera

Posted: Sunday, 20th December 2015

Wonderful wetlands capture the imagination of all Mallorcan visitors. Few modes of travel get you closer to the heart of Mallorca wetlands than cycling. Don’t be put off by lack of cycling experience or the need to bring the kids along. Everyone can take on the Parque de S’Albufera route with ease.

A purely flat trail means you can just sit back, pedal gently and enjoy the great scenery. Cycling Mallorca naturally brings you closer to nature. Yet the Parque de S’Albufera trail takes this one step further by cutting through S’Albufera Park. Cycle up to the visitor centre and arm yourself with guides to the park and resident wildlife. From here, you can tailor your cycling expedition to suit your interests.

s’Albufera Natura Park is a hotbed of European nesting birds. Wetland species abound including Purple Heron, Marsh Harrier and Eleonora's Falcon. Just a hint of other birds to spot encompass Cetti's Warbler, Fan-tailed Warbler and Night Herons. Why not cycle your way around the entire park checking out various bird hides? This is cycling Mallorca mixed with nature spotting and bird watching.

Now you are well on your way to cycling Mallorca, how about where to stay. S’Albufera Park lies close to Alcudia whose charms include Roman remains, historic village centre and vibrant markets. Check out a couple of boutique hotels below that are located in and around Alcudia:

•    Son Simo Vell: a rural hotel Mallorca blending minimalist styling with abundant natural surrounds. As a working farm, fresh produce and mouthwatering cuisine are readily dished up too

•    Can Simo: an intimate boutique hotel Mallorca offering just seven exclusive rooms. Each packed with modern comforts and individual design. Can Simo is home to one of Alcudia’s most sought-after restaurants too
