Things to do and places to visit in Pollensa

Posted: Sunday, 2nd January 2022

Pollensa, or Pollenca, is a lovely rural village on the island of Mallorca with stunning mountain range scenery while also be close to the coast with a vibrant port (puerto pollensa). It is a very popular village and there are many things to do and places to visit.

For starters, there is a weekly market on Sundays from 10am to 12pm. The market is very varied and sells flowers, fresh fruit and lots of gifts made of leather and wood, as well as clothes. Be warned, the market gets very hot during summer, so make sure you take a hat and stop for a drink at the many bars surrounding the market.

If you are feeling energetic then you could climb the 365 steps to Calvari Church and witness some spectacular views. Or, walk to the old Roman Bridge to see a bit of history.

Museums, churches and galleries are abundant in this small town. Check out Puig de Maria Sanctuary which has a little chapel and was constructed at the end of the 14th century, or El Castell del Rei (Kings Castle) which is thought to be of Moorish construction. If history is your passion then don’t miss the Sant Vicenç prehistoric caves at Cala Bóquer, which are of the Talayotic period and have origins of the pre-Roman city of Bocchoris.

There are many pollensa boutique hotels in and around the picturesque town of pollensa. Here are a few of our favourites:
