Spotlight on Cala Morlanda

Posted: Wednesday, 2nd June 2021

Should brilliant turquoise waters capture your beach-loving spirit then Cala Morlanda is a must on your Mallorcan itinerary. If soft golden sandy beaches are your fancy, this craggy cove is not for you. But if you are captivated by the opportunity to see the other Mallorca, slightly off the beaten tourist track, do not miss Cala Morlanda.

Pop on some good walking shoes and scale the rocky stairs that lead down to pebbly shores with that irresistible water beyond. Don’t be surprised if you are one of only few beachgoers at Cala Morlanda. Not known for its crowds, this pretty cove offers a much more secluded Mallorcan beach experience than many of the other Mallorca counterparts. All the better for you though. Less people mean you can fully absorb the many pleasures of Cala Morlanda from its long sweeping coastline, craggy cliff faces and expansive views.

Now if that crystalline water of Cala Morlanda beckons you can take your plunge straight off the cliffs at some points along the coast. Why not pop on a mask and explore Cala Morlanda from under the water too. This is a terrific scuba diving spot as a hive of sea life activity lies just below the sea surface.

Once you have had your fill of the beach, you’ll be needing a place to stay. Just as well there are plenty of hotels around Manacor. One of the best is Sa Franquesa, inviting you to enjoy:

•    Sprawling Mediterranean gardens
•    Perfect privacy and serenity
•    Just 24 rooms for a cozy intimate stay, all with terrace
•    Marvellous market cuisine plus a generous buffet breakfast
•    Horsedrawn carriage rides throughout the wider Sa Franquesa estate
