Mallorca is a beautiful island to explore by car, vespa or bicycle. Some of the more scenic routes might be a bit more difficult access by bike, so let’s talk about taking a peaceful scenic drive in a car. Today we’d like to share with you three of our favourite scenic drives.
Not only can you enjoy the beautiful scenery on your way across the island, but once you get to your destination, Mallorca has so many pretty spots to stop and spend the afternoon or even the whole day. Take your time and really unwind and enjoy yourself – you might even find that time slows down – in a good way!
Mallorca West Coast Scenic Drive
Driving along the west coast of Mallorca gives you beautiful sea and mountain views, which is a real treat. If the weather is good (very likely!), be sure to hire a car with a soft top or sun roof – or simply roll down all the windows and let the breeze flow through your hair.
Be sure to stop into a few villages as you drive along and we recommend Deia and Banyalbufar for their great little restaurants for a bite to eat and drink or a stroll along for the amazing sea views. If you’ve brought along your bathing suit, then take a refreshing swim at the small coves of Cala Deia and Cala Banyalbufar, which are fantastic little coves well-worth exploring.
Soller to Pollenca Scenic Drive
The drive from Soller to Pollenca through the mountains takes about 2 hours. You will drive past some of the highest peaks of the island which offer fantastic sea and mountain views. The road is well sealed and not too narrow, but for those with vertigo it might still be a bit of a challenge.
Mallorca South East Scenic Drive
Drive down south east and enjoy the flat countryside with picturesque Mallorcan windmills. Be sure to stop by for a scenic walk and some lunch in one of the beautiful ports of Cala Figuera or Portopetro. In Portopetro you can enjoy a wonderful paella at Es Bergant which is located on the main strip of restaurants. If you are feeling energetic, then walk from Portopetro in an easterly direction and go swimming off the rocks – it is very secluded and private!
