Playing at golf courses in Mallorca

Posted: Thursday, 17th April 2014

The climate in Majorca means that playing golf is a year-round enjoyable activity. Golf lovers will be pleased to hear that the golf courses are open almost every day of the year and except for a few chilly days in January and February, it’s always the perfect temperature to sink a few holes.

Just like anywhere else in the world there are a few do’s and don’ts when playing golf in Majorca. Here are few tips to get you started:

  • Make sure you are loaded up with plenty of fresh drinking water. Golf is a thirsty sport and the tropical climate also adds to dehydration.
  • Carry a handicap certificate with you at all times. Some clubs request them so it’s better to be safe than sorry.
  • Lock up your valuables as theft can be a problem.
  • Distances on the courses are in metres. If you need to convert to yards then simply add 10%.
  • Dress in suitable light layers and breathable fabrics. Don’t forget your hat and sunscreen!
  • Be sure to observe all local rules such as for divots, pitch marks, bunker repair, slow play and others.

There are eighteen golf courses on the island of Majorca so you will always have somewhere to play. Enjoy yourself!
