Feast of Mallorca 2012 (Annual Mallorca Day)

Posted: Monday, 10th September 2012

September 12th is the annual national Day of Mallorca to commemorate the pledge made by James II in 1276 of the Charter of liberties and privileges of the Kingdom of Majorca, which became the legal basis for the country.

The day is actually celebrated all across the island throughout the whole week from the 10th to the 16th, with restaurants featuring special menus showcasing traditional Malloquin cuisine. Many of the local restaurants in small villages such as Soller, Campanet, Inca, Sineu, Pollensa and more will go all out, using local produce. Celebrations in the major city of Palma are also spectacular.

Dishes will star local olive oil, citrus, almonds, sausage (sobrassada), local seafood and be matched with local wines. Most menus are very reasonably priced for three courses for around 20 or 30 euros.

Rural Hotels Mallorca can book you a fantastic rural boutique hotel to stay in, while you are in town enjoying the festivities. There are many spa hotels, villas and apartments to choose from as well as small rustic family-run hotels that are sure to charm you.
