Castell de Bellver (Bellver Castle)

Posted: Monday, 25th June 2012

Mallorca is not just about relaxing on the beach or playing golf (although you should fit in time for those too!), it also has a rich history that is worth exploring. If you are in the mood for checking out some beautiful 14th Century gothic-style architecture then Bellver Castle (or Castell de Bellver in Spanish) is the place for you.

This grand old building has served as a home for kings and a military prison before being transformed into a tourist destination with historical museum. The castle is located at Calle Camilo Jose Cela on a hill which is about 3km east from Palma beside a lush forest. The views from the top of the city of Palma are absolutely stunning and panoramic. It’s the perfect spot for a romantic rendezvous or to practice your landscape photographing skills.

The castle is open every day except for Mondays.
