Amateur cycling holiday in Mallorca

Posted: Thursday, 28th March 2013

Soller is a fantastic town to base yourself for a cycling holiday. It’s an ideal location for both amateur and professional cyclists, but today we are just going to focus on amateurs and hobbyists of this wonderful sport.

Most hotels in Soller Mallorca offer to help you with cycle hire and some even have bicycles available to borrow for free, so don’t forget to ask your friendly hosts for some help with getting your hands on a bike.

From the village of Soller, it is a fairly easy and scenic ride down to Puerto Soller which is a boat and fishing port with a great beach. Stop for a while and enjoy a cool drink or go for a swim before pedalling back to your soller hotel.

If you’d prefer to explore a traditional village, then head in a different direction to the beautiful village of Fornalutx. It’s only a short ride away and you’ll be richly rewarded with local restaurants, cake shops, clothing stores and tasteful souvenirs down the cobblestoned streets filled with sandstone buildings.

Hotel accommodation in Soller is really varied and there are plenty of lovely places to suit all budgets and tastes. Here are a few to whet your appetite for this lovely village:

  • LAvenida Hotel – retro chic interiors and modernist architecture.
  • Can Ai - family owned since 1723 and surrounded by the impressive Tramuntana mountains.
  • Cas Sant – hidden paradise with citrus orchards. You must try their homemade mandarin marmalade!
