HOTELS

Hi Henrik

Thanks for your email.

The hotel was very good generally, fantastic history.

The service was lacking in the restaurant near the beach and for the quality I thought it was very expensive!!!

Overall, it was just ok.

Room was the best part very good.

How would you rate the following from 1-5 where 5 is the best rating:
Service: 2
Food: 3
Cleanliness: 5
Value for money: 3
Sleep quality:5

Would you recommend the hotel to a friend? Undecided

I will be in touch shortly as we wanted to book a villa for the family next year.

All the best

Henrik,

Yes we had an absolutely wonderful time and will definitely be needing your help again.

Cap Rocat
Instantly relaxing , the view upon arrival is just jaw dropping and the hotel is a haven of tranquillity and ultra-top service . Not cheap but you get what you pay for . Not sure the hotel can be topped .

Avenida
Staff were so welcoming and helpful , breakfast was just right  , we had a lovely big room that opened up onto the pool area . My only issue is that the pool courtyard is very small and did feel a little hemmed in and being a town hotel it was quite noisy , but a cracking hotel all the same .

Can Simonetta
The views across the gardens to the open sea set this hotel apart , initially given room 2 which is totally uninspiring too small and typical of a cheap hotel chain , but a quick word with the receptionist and they found us another room in the beach house . The fact that you can walk straight into Canyamel or over to the sister hotel provides a variety restaurants , both restaurants top class . The steps down  the cliffs to sea level  is a must do , after a big storm  the waves were huge so unsafe for bathing  but that just added an extra level of  drama .

I would recommend all of these hotels to friends dependant on what they want from their visit .

Thanks again

Hi Henrik!

Nice to hear from you and yes I am delighted to report we had a fabulous holiday on the wonderful green and pleasant island of Mallorca.

Your help and advice was very much appreciated and helped us steer ourselves into I think “a perfect balance of island discovery and calm/luxury rest & relaxation!!”

Our first hotel (Son Grec/ Sôller) was delightful and José and his wife made us very welcome, ensured we were fully informed, and were there to advise and help us throughout our stay.

Our second hotel was of course in Cala Blava at Cap Rocat!

What can we say....just a breathtaking and highly memorable experience. We have honestly never experienced a hotel quite like it. From the moment we drew up by the entrance we were managed perfectly and although there were a few mistakes and areas for improvement- this was the highly attentive and professional level of customer care and refined, luxurious living we have come to expect in places like Raffles in Singapore or the best hotels in Hong Kong...not in Europe.

Our room was a suite in a gun battery bunker...with a higher level for private sun bathing or eating al fresco....all wonderfully designed and brilliantly adapted to provide a superb living and relaxing indoor & outdoor space.

Food in the main Rocat restaurant was  simply spectacular- we chose their seven course signature menu which is a Mallorcan tasting trip around the island- a selection of localised small meal samples taking you through tastes, ingredients and smells associated with island cuisine and traditional foods/ covering sea and land cuisine.

More casual eating was at the Sea View bar/restaurant – all very pleasant in a cliff side restaurant overlooking the rocky beach areas - enjoying moody, romantic evenings by candle light. Sadly in both restaurants the spirits and wine selections were shockingly expensive (e.g. 20 euros for one G&T ) and I feel wrongly pitched compared to the food... which was still at quite high cost BUT more fairly balanced considering the work, effort and design put into each plate.

Staff service at Cap Rocat was ‘nearing immaculate’ and baring just a few mistakes (possibly due to language /translations) our needs were always met quickly and effectively. I tried the spa / Well being services and although the excellent massage/special pool and post treatment rooms were really spectacular (first class/world class) I was very shocked and totally disappointed that no sauna or steam rooms were available (these days as an expected/ standard facility) for resident guests!!!

How can anyone expect to deliver a good / acceptable Spa facility/status without these (now basic ) health facilities??

My wife really enjoyed her daily yoga sessions around the wonderfully architect designed pool area.....while I swam in (sort of enjoyed in a bracing early morning way!?) the near freezing pool (and I mean far colder than the sea) each morning!!

However, we both could imagine just how fantastic this pool area was/will be in good / warm /seasonal weather.

Alas 4 days was gone too fast .....and we paid up our expenses balance and drove back to Palma on the Oct. 22nd.

Overall we loved this beautiful & friendly little green island and feel it a TOTAL MUST to return!

Many thanks again Henrik for helping us so well, to select the right hotels and rooms/services at the right levels...both locations were different and yet brilliantly fitted our needs and fulfilled our perfect introduction to what must be Spain’s best island paradise.

Kind regards

Hi Henrik, Thanks for your email. We had a great time and really enjoyed moving around the island. Here is some feedback as requested which I’m happy for you to use in full or in parts as you see fit. Cap Rocat: 4 nights, Suite Cap Rocat. We immediately realised why this hotel was considerably more than the others! Unique place, very special and superbly done. For those wanting complete peace and quiet and get away from life then this hotel does just that. Not many local places of note so not a good base for exploring, but you don’t want to leave the place in the first place! Loved the breakfast concept to it being delivered to your terrace at any time that suited you. Our latest was 1245 and was no issue - a lovely long brunch! Our suite (29 I think) only had a spiral staircase to the roof terrace while the others looked like they had stairs and a couple of terraces. If we had any mobility problems then the terrace wouldn’t have been accessible to us. I felt we had the lowest ’standard’ suite. But the hotel oozed class with the staff looking like they were out of perfume adverts and the clientele from Philippe Patek adverts. Ate the the Sea Club a couple of times and found the quality excellent, backed with stunning views across the Bay. Again a hotel which would completely recharge the batteries after a few days there. The staff were excellent - not too stuffy and happy to help at all times. Being sea lovers, the little beach and access steps to the crystal water was a real bonus. It seemed most people used the infinity pool which had fabulous views. As you’d expect from a hotel of this size with only a few rooms, there was never a feeling of being crowded. Son Jaumell: 5 nights, Junior suite, garden terrace: Great start to the holiday as it was a very relaxed place. Peaceful. Easy to get to various beaches and worth doing research on these first to find the less crowded and less touristy ones. Enjoyed a couple of trips to Arta. Food at hotel was good although we were expecting better given the Michelin star chef.  Can Simoneta: 3 nights, Pitch roof, sea view, chill area: Fantastic location and space to this hotel. Food and service excellent and can definitely see ourselves popping back there for short breaks from the UK. The gardens, views, access to beach and the carved steps to the secret cove were all fantastic. We had two meals there in the evening and both didn’t disappoint. The style of all the rooms were lovely. Our room had great views but didn’t realise it was going to be up in the eaves of the building. Thought it would at least have a balcony or terrace. The designated chill out area for it was not welcoming - no view, no umbrella, nothing special to it. We didn't use it. There were plenty of ‘public’ chill out areas that were much better. Lavenida: 2 nights, Luxury Suite: Lovely to spend a couple of days in this village. We have always enjoyed our time there. Lavenida is a fantastic townhouse hotel and has everything you need to explore the village. Great restaurant recommendations and, in fact, all the suggestions and help of the staff was top notch. It is probably owned by someone British and the management, most the staff are British which obviously changes its feel from a Spanish hotel. This was not a problem at all, but for anyone looking for there total Spanish feel/welcome then they should be aware.  I look forward to travelling with you again as I like the intimate knowledge you have of the region and I feel there are plenty of other good hotels still to be discovered. Thank you very much Henrik for organising the trip and I hope you are having a successful season. Kind regards
