Catch the tram between Soller and Puerto Soller

Posted: Wednesday, 3rd January 2024

If you are staying at a hotel in Soller and would like to get down to the beach for a swim, then the best way to do it is to catch the tram.

The tram runs between the town of Soller and Puerto Soller and is a popular tourist activity for visitors as the journey is very scenic. Not to mention the tram itself is a charming old orange vehicle with an old-time feel.

The Orange Express, is an affectionate and somewhat ironic name for the tram, as it moves slowly and noisily along its path, taking 25 minutes from Soller to the Puerto Soller. However, the slowness can be forgiven as the journey is just so beautiful. The tram meanders past the last few homes of Soller and then through many orange and lemon trees which perfume the air with the most delicious aromas, before finally running along the beach of Soller and allowing its passengers to alight right in the centre of the port.

Getting a window seat is a difficult feat, so instead, passengers often stand outside on the platforms between the wagons to get the best views with fresh air – it’s only 25 minutes of standing after all!

You don’t need to buy tickets in advance, simply pay on the train. The cost is 5 euros each way. Here’s the timetable for your reference:
